digital project life printing

You guys! Today is a pretty big deal! We have been working for a long time to bring you printing services at Digital Project Life®. Ever since we introduced printing in the Project Life App, we knew we wanted to bring printing services to even more of our customers. Today is the day! You can now print your photos, greeting cards, and photo books from your computer or from your phone using your web browser.

What Can You Print?

At Digital Project Life Printing, you can order rectangular prints in the following sizes: 4x6, 5x7, 6x8, 8x10, and 8.5x11. You can order square prints in the following sizes: 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10, and 12x12. You can order 5x7 greeting cards. Each set of greeting cards includes envelopes. You can also print hard cover lay-flat photo books in 8x8, 10x10, and 12x12 sizes. You can choose a faux leather cover or a custom photo cover. Soft photo books are not available at this time but will be added in the near future.

Our Printer

All of our printing is fulfilled by White House Custom Colour. This is the same printer that fulfills all of our prints through the Project Life App. If you have ever placed an order through the app, you know that the quality is AMAZING! The pictures of the products they produce do not even begin to do them justice. We are so happy to extend our relationship with White House Custom Colour so that we can help you get your photos out of your computer and cameras and into your hands.

Project Life App Prints vs. Digital Project Life Prints

Since we have the same print partner fulfilling the prints at Digital Project Life as we do the Project Life App, you might wonder if there are any differences. There are just a few. There are a few more sizing options available at Digital Project Life that are not currently available through the Project Life App. At Digital Project Life you can order 4x4 and 6x6 square prints. You can also order 5x7, 8x10, and 8.5x11 prints. The soft cover photo books are only available right now through the Project Life App but will be added to Digital Project Life in the future.

Because the Project Life App and the Digital Project Life Printing run on two different platforms, the files are handled slightly differently for printing. You may notice some slight differences on the borders between the square prints from each site. For continuity (and if you're picky like me!), you may want to stick with one method of printing for each album you complete. We also recommend that you order any layouts made with the Project Life App from the app and not from Digital Project Life. Again, this has to do with the file handling and the margins of the pages. If you have additional questions on this, you can email us at digital@beckyhiggins.com.

Physical Project Life Customers

If you love working with our physical Project Life Collections, then this printing site is perfect for you. Yes, you! This printing site is not just for printing of Digital Project Life layouts. You can also print your photos for use in your Photo Pocket Pages. You can print pictures in the following sizes: 4x6, 5x7, 6x8, 8x10, and 8.5x11. We also offer square prints in 4x4 if you love working with Instagram sized prints, and in 6x6 which works great with Photo Pocket Page Design E. We are excited to extend this service to include our awesome physical Project Life customers.

Margins for Digital Project Life Layouts

With the addition of printing services, we have made some changes to our digital templates. If you have ordered digital templates from either Digital Project Life or from AC Digitals, you should have received an email with download links to our updated templates. The new download includes the original templates and updated templates that are print ready. The print-ready templates have a wider border on them. This is important because when your layout is printed, it goes through a trimming process. If anything is too close to the trim line, it is in danger of being cut off. We have extensively tested these new print-ready templates and have found that they work perfectly when printed as individual layouts and in photo books. What if you have completed layouts using the old templates and you would like to print them? Not a problem. You just need to make a couple of adjustments to your layout before you upload them for printing. We have put together a short video tutorial on how to do this.

Printing Traditional Digital Scrapbooking Layouts

Are you a traditional digital scrapbooker? Do you like to add traditional digital scrapbook layouts in with your Project Life layouts? You can totally print your traditional digital scrapbooking layouts too! To get the very best prints, we recommend that you keep all important photos, text, and embellishments 1/4" away from the edge of the page. Any closer and you risk having those important items getting cut off during the trimming process.

Becky's Sketches Templates

You might have heard that we recently released Becky's Sketches as digital templates at Digital Project Life. These templates are traditional scrapbooking designs and allow you to create layouts based on the number of photos that you have. These templates are print ready. Each template has guidelines built into them 1/4" away from the edge of the layout. As long as you keep all of your important embellishments, text, and photos inside this line, your layouts will print beautifully!

Adding a Border

What about adding borders to your layouts? We don't have an automated way to do that at this time, but we are more than happy to teach you how to do it quickly and easily in Photoshop Elements. Watch the video tutorial below and we will walk you through the process. This works for both Digital Project Life layouts and traditional digital scrapbooking layouts.
