Pocket Scrapbooking with Project Life

Cultivate a good life and record it.

studio calico offer!

I can honestly say that we’ve never shared a giveaway quite like this. And I’ll specify to say that this is a free-offer-with-purchase kind of giveaway. This isn’t for just “someone” or even ten someones. This is going to 100 of you! One. Hundred.

Let me back up for just a moment, because I know many of you reading this are new. Lots of new visitors on the blog these days. Welcome, welcome! Okay, so what is Studio Calico and what do they have to do with us? We created Project Life, which is designed to be ultra-simple, completely fuss-free, and utterly takes the guesswork out of scrapbooking. We teamed up with Studio Calico because they produce a monthly Project Life kit that is geared to those who want to be creative with their pages. If you missed it, please read that quick Q&A post from when we announced the partnership in October. It will make a lot of sense.

So back to this giveaway. Insane amount of winners, right? I know. This is how it works. You don’t leave your name here on my blog. This isn’t a typical giveaway. This is for the next 100 people that join the waiting list for the monthly Project Life kit at Studio Calico. If you are not already on that list … and you join (here) … and you’re one of the first 100 folks to do this … Studio Calico will ship you a set of the journal/filler cards from the February Studio Calico Project Life Kit that is totally sold out. And no, they won’t even charge you for shipping. It will just be a magic little surprise that shows up at your house.

Go check it out, and YES – this is open to everyone, no matter where in the world you live.   : )

Added notes, based on your feedback and questions:

1. If you join the waiting list, you will receive an email. Additionally, Studio Calico will post the time stamp for all those that made the cut. You can check your dashboard on StudioCalico.com, and you can find the time-stamp that shows when you joined the Waiting List. You will also receive an email notification when your free gift ships!

2. What about if you were already on the waiting list? Studio Calico has already planned a nice freebie to send to everyone on the waiting list and that’s actually going out today. Watch for your happy mail to arrive soon! It’s cool.

3. Studio Calico is not printing more cards for this promo. Incidentally, they had some extra cards from the February kit and that’s what they’re using.

4. You can email info@studiocalico.com with further questions or concerns.

This is great! How will we know if we’ve qualified?

  2. Jenn laredo says:

What about those of us already on the waiting list?

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Jenn! Those already on the waiting list, and those that are starting with March kit, all have freebies coming, too.

    • Melissa says:

So those who signed up early and received Jan and Feb are left out? Is this the case? Not exactly fair for those who signed up for subscriptions the day the announcement went live last fall.

    • nikki says:

So what about everyone who actually pay money for the kits? and have been paying money? why dont they get free cards or any extra bonuses? afterall our cards werent even cut the right size but now your giving people who DONT PAY the extra free gifts? Does that make sense to anyone?

  3. Karen de Castro says:

    great give away!!

  4. Mitzi Jones says:

Wait so if we sign up now, we are on a waiting list (like the several before us) we don’t get the March kit but you sent me free Feb cards? What is the point of rushing to sign up if I can’t get the kit. Shouldn’t you say the next 100 to get on their already extended waiting list gets a free set? It’s very frustrating.

Also I have see the card that they are producing and they are not that great of quality compared to your kits.

Can you tell I am a little frustrated with the way this whole situation is turning out????

    • Melissa says:

This is not true. I have the SC kits, the cards are BETTER quality than the typical core kits.

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Mitzi! Sorry for your frustration :( That is correct that the next 100 to join get the February kit cards shipped free. We have been working diligently to increase quantities each month, and have done so as much as we are capable. We are thrilled that there is such demand for the kits, and I can guarantee we are working at capacity to increase as quickly as possible!

Our SC Project Life kit journal cards are printed on 110-lb cardstock. If you’re having any issues with the quality, you can certainly send us an email and we are glad to help! We can be reached at info@studiocalico.com.

    • kelly libby says:

Hmmm… Here’s an idea: People should just try and be thankful for a free gift. If you don’t want the gift and/or aren’t happy with it, then you have the choice to not sign up. It’s paper. Very cute paper. but, seriously… Why such negativity???!! This is a blog. about scrapbooking. no need.

I will be VERY HAPPY with any gift I get…and I will wait. Life isn’t instantaneous. We have to wait for good things.

    • Kathie Maruska says:

Well said Kelly Libby! Ungrateful is not welcome and those already on the list are getting something…win win!

      Thank you for the opportunity!

    • nikki says:

That makes no sense. so the people who are on the wait list and have been waiting for 2 months now WILL NOT get the feb cards. But new people who sign up will get feb cards and then be put on another wait list for subscription. Why not give the people who ARE on the wait list the cards?

    • C says:

People would be happy with ANY gift they get. The point is that they have these 100 extra sets of cards lying around and people waiting MONTHS for a PL kit and they couldnt make extra kits? They up and try to get MORE people added to the waiting list by offering these sets of cards to them. Try sending them out the ones who have been waiting since January for a kit instead of trying to get more people to get on the waitlist.

  5. Tinkster says:

And those that didn’t get February but will get march get nothing.

    • Hillary says:

I was thinking the exact same thing Tinkster. We get nothing!

    • Lisa Mack says:

I do apologize for the frustration: ( We have separate free gifts already planned for those that have been on the waiting list, or are starting with March’s kit. Moving forward, this is the case as long as we have a waiting list as we know it is hard to wait for something with such demand! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email us at info@studiocalico.com.

  6. Cindy Koning says:

I just joined on Monday… a day to soon :(

    • Lisa Mack says:

You’ll still be receiving a freebie too ;) Not to worry. We have planned freebies for those already on the waiting list each month moving forward.

  7. Alicia W says:

How can you give a way items from the Feb kit that is sold out but there are still so many on the wait list. If you have Feb items don’t you think Studio Calico should give those to people who have been on their wait list since Dec? Some still don’t have kits at all. This I think is wrong on so many levels.

    Down right shameful.

    • Lindsay N says:

      3. Studio Calico is not printing more cards for this promo. Incidentally, they had some extra cards from the February kit and that’s what they’re using.

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Alicia! Those on the waiting list are also receiving freebies, just as we have done in the past for our waiting list. I know it is hard to wait, however we would never want anyone to feel slighted. Please feel free to email us with any concerns at info@studiocalico.com. We are always happy to help!

  8. Erin K. says:

What a great giveaway. Totally frustrated that I just signed up on the waiting list on Tuesday :( Would love to get the March kit but as it stands hoping to get an April one.

  9. Joanna says:

Doesn’t this mean that Studio Calico has done another print run of Feb cards? (which they would have to be, since those cards have long been sold out) – so maybe people on the waiting list already will be also getting these cards as well…? or they will be available for sale…? perhaps? just a thought. I know they have been hearing a lot of frustration over at SC. I wouldn’t have thought they would do an extra print run JUST for 100 people. but hey, what do I know? I would watch and see what SC does.

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Joanna! We did not print extra journal cards for this promotion- we did have card sets remaining and wanted to use them as a giveaway rather than let them go to waste: )

  10. Jillian says:

I think this give away is completely unfair to those of us already on the waiting list. They obviously can’t keep up and now you’re going to add more people to wait for a future kit. Then those who have been patiently waiting do not get these free cards which we have been asking about since some of us assumed the waiting list wouldn’t take this long. I am at fault because I didn’t know about project life sooner but already invested a lot. Please find away to re-release the old kits or do something for those on the waiting list currently. Thank you!

  11. Amy says:

Alicia W, I agree with you completely. Studio Calico shouldn’t be doing Giveaways to try to add MORE customers to an already TOO long waiting list. If they have the ability to print 100 sets of cards for this giveaway, 100 people on the waiting list that didn’t get the February Kit got the raw end of this deal…

I love Studio Calico, but I am so disappointed in them right now because of this “Giveaway”, which is really just a marketing ploy to gain more customers when they supposedly don’t have enough product to fill the current orders of their existing customers.

SC should be taking care of their current customers on the waiting list FIRST before trying to get more people on the list.

Nevermind the fact that this post doesn’t mention that people who sign up on the waiting list TODAY to get these 100 free cards will NOT be getting the March kit, and there is a good possibility they won’t get April either.

Very disappointed in SC on this…..

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Amy! I understand your concern, and hope I can help explain the promo a bit better: ) Due to production lead times, it can be incredibly hard to forecast quantities, but even harder to increase them once production has been completed. That being said, we have been able to increase quantities significantly with each month moving forward, and this promotion was scheduled precisely to account for the production increase that we have forecasted.
Also, I’m sure as you’ve seen in my other comments, we do have freebies for everyone that has been on the waiting list and is starting with March, and those that are already on the waiting list prior to today. Those details will be going out via email direct from us here at SC. I hope this helps a bit to explain what happens here behind the scenes and how it plays out online : )

  12. Cathy says:

I have no idea what SC is going to do and am not involved with them in any way, but I did not sign up right away when the SC/Project Life announcement was originally made so I ended up on the waiting list. I did not receive the January kit, but I did receive the February kit. They did unexpectedly send me a printable file of January cards just for being on the wait list while I was waiting for my February kit, so it is possible that they will be sending these cards to the people already on the waiting list, too.

    • Joanna says:

That’s what I think too. As I commented above, I doubt they would be doing a new print run for just 100 people.

    • Lisa Mack says:

We definitely have current plans, and plans moving forward, for those on the waiting list for the SC/PL kit subscription. The demand has been greater than we even anticipated, so we are doing our best to provide value to those waiting for a subscription to start : )

i would love to win and put all of this in my project life

  14. Terra says:

What a strange way to do business. I signed up for the waiting list 2 days ago but not I’m not even sure if I want to be on it anymore.

  15. Carrie says:

I’m intriqued by the whole Studio Calico kit, but their website on it is so vague. I can’t see blindly subscribing to such a large monthly amount when I have no idea if the products will be of use to me. It would be nice to have more detail and description of the items.
For the simple fact that there seems to be so many people on a waiting list, I won’t be adding my name either. If they can’t meet demand now, what makes them think that they can add more customers?
There is just something not right with this system of business.

    • Joanna says:

I felt the same way Carrie. It feels a bit like a secret society! But you can see what’s in the past kits if you search youtube and their forums. And they explained that because of lead times (3 months advance ordering for the components of the kits) they were unprepared for the demand at the beginning of the year but by April they should have more than enough kits for everyone (subscribers and people who want to buy the kits monthly). Their explanation is here http://www.studiocalico.com/community/project-life-chat/search/lead%20times

    • Valerie says:

I think the same thing – the wiitng list is already long enough, and now they’re going to add MORE people to it? Plus, so many people who are already on the list from before, they don’t get the chance to win the free kit. This place is NEVER going to fill all these orders in a timely manner.

    • Lisa Mack says:

Thank you for the feedback- we are always looking for areas of improvement, and have a few changes in the works to minimize this type of confusion. I mentioned this above in another comment, but I am going to copy it here too so you can see it too :)

Due to production lead times, it can be incredibly hard to forecast quantities, but even harder to increase them once production has been completed. That being said, we have been able to increase quantities significantly with each month moving forward, and this promotion was scheduled precisely to account for the production increase that we have forecasted.

  16. Debra says:

That’s very frustrating for customers like me that have been on the wait list since January. Poor customer service, unless you’re planning on gifting this to all those that have been waiting.

  17. Diana says:

I’m already on the wait list. Do I qualify?

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Diana! You will already be receiving a freebie by joining the list prior to this promotion. We certainly want to provide value and perks for those that have been waiting for their subscription to be active. Keep an eye on your inbox for more information on that : )

  18. Lisa Mack says:

We already have a free gift going out to those of you on the waiting list :) It’s been in the works the last few weeks and will be shipping today. They are already packed, labeled, and ready to go once the mail man arrives.

I understand the frustration for those of you that have been on the waiting list for a while. We have happy mail coming your way, separate from this promo. We apologize for the confusion :( However, please trust that we would never want to make any of you feel slighted.

Feel free to contact us here on our site: http://www.studiocalico.com/conversations/new with any questions or concerns. We are happy to help :)

  19. hannah says:

So you have to subscribe to be eligible for the giveaway?

    • Deirdre says:

Yes, Hannah—I personally think “waiting list” is a bit misleading. I signed up for the January waiting list because I really did want to buy that PL kit. When I got an email in February, it wasn’t that I could now buy that kit but that I would be getting February’s kit and every month after that. I had no idea I was signing up for a monthly kit subscription.

I have to add, their customer service was excellent and they cancelled my “subscription” without the fee they normally apply if you cancel before six months are up. I do think people should know what they’re signing up for though—so I’m adding this comment.

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Hannah and Deirdre! I apologize for the confusion regarding the subscription : / On the Waiting List page, the terms are outlined and state that as a subscriber, a kit will automatically be reserved for you and billed on the 1st day of each month. That being said, we are open to feedback and are always looking to improve our processes. Please feel free to send us any comments or concerns at info@studiocalico.com : ) Thanks so much.

    • hannah says:

So it’s not really a giveaway but rather a gift with purchase. Thanks for the clarification, the post and tweets about it were misleading.

  20. antiquechase says:

so generous and I am crossing my fingers I get lucky!! So cool, love their products and would put them to great use!!!

  21. michelle says:

Joined hours ago and no email ever sent so I can’t finish registering.

  22. Beth P says:

Thanks for this giveaway Becky and Studio Calico. Being on the waiting list for the PL kit for a while I am looking forward to my freebie that will be sent out. I’m sure it will be fantastic like all the SC kits and I will look forward to receiving this and for confirmation when it comes for my PL subscription to be activated when that happens. I have enough to keep me going with all the other BH PL products for a while ;).

  23. Suzanne Z says:

I’m with everyone else. This is very confusing. This doesn’t sound like a giveaway it sounds like a gimmick to get people to sign up for their subscription. I have no idea what or if I will be paying for something???

    • Valerie says:

I know, right? There’s no price anywhere to tell you how much you’re going to pay. Plus, all the people who are already on the waiting list are screwed of this promo!

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Suzanne! I apologize for the confusion: / Joining the waiting list will hold your place in line to become a subscriber of the SC/PL kit. All of the terms are listed on the waiting list page, but as a subscriber the kit is $19.95/month plus shipping. Hope this helps a bit : )

  24. Debbie p says:

This is awesome. I have been wanting this!!!

  25. Kristina M says:

I’m already a PL kit subscriber.

  26. Melissa Woodall says:

YEAH!!! I have been waiting for the list to open up……….how will we know if we made it onto the list?
Thanks and here’s to a terrific weekend!

    • Lisa Mack says:

Hi Melissa! When your subscription is activated, you will receive an email. If you join the waiting list today, you will receive an email from us when your free gift ships.

  27. I am really not liking this… I signed up for the kit the moment it became available.. and was activated with January… now that there are a lot of people on waiting lists and not paying because they didn’t make the club, but they are able to get the cards for “free”??? That is so not fair for everyone in the club that is paying.. I love the Project Life kit club, but this way of running it is awful!

    • April Foster says:

At Studio Calico we try to treat all customers fairly. Those that are on the waiting list are our customers as well and we want them to feel a part of the community and the Project Life process. There are lots of other benefits to subscribing that these customers have yet to enjoy, but that you are taking advantage of (bundled shipping, earning months towards rewards status, access to presale, discounts on classes, discounts on digital items, and the list goes on….).

We are happy you chose to be a part of this great kit and process so early and wish you luck in documenting life with this amazing system Becky developed!

    • stacy says:

This is ridiculous. how frustrating to hand out items for free that we pay for.

  28. Tracy says:

I signed up for the PL kits two weeks ago, never got any type of email for confirmation but in my account it does say I am on the waiting list. Though I’m not expecting to get anything until the summer (sigh). This “giveaway” is unfair, very confusing and completely frustrating!

I feel like this whole Studio Calico/Project Life thing is like high school all over again and I’m the loser with the no name brand jeans and all the popular girls are wearing expensive designer ones.

    • April Foster says:

Hi Tracy! I recognize you from our message boards at SC. Cute!
Anyway, we try not to spam with lots of messages but once per month we are updating waiting list folks as to the status of their account.

We have fun stuff in store for you, just check your inbox later today and you’ll know what I’m referring to :)
As always, we want to hear from you, so don’t hesitate to contact us at info@studiocalico.com with any comments or suggestions.

    • Tracy says:

Thanks April! I appreciate it =)

  29. Nadine says:

What a great giveaway. thank you

  30. heathergw says:

Becky, I think if I were you I would change the wording from giveaway to free w/ purchase… just my two cents.

    • Cerise says:

Couldn’t agree with you more. The whole reason I haven’t signed up yet is because of financial reasons. Was kinda hoping this giveaway would be maybe one lucky person would get a month free…but instead you have to sign up to be on a waiting list to pay for six months worth of kits. Doesn’t seem like a giveaway at all.

    • Jennifer says:

This isn’t a giveaway, it’s a free with purchase. Giving something away means it is completely free, not contingent on a purchase.

    • Debra says:

      totally agree Heather.

    • Leah says:

Completely agree – not a giveaway if you have to commit to buying 6 months of kits at $20 each. Poor choice of words – I was hoping for a chance to win some SC PL cards since I have no intention of committing for 6 months to something sight unseen.

    • Lisa says:

I agree. Not the exciting giveway I anticipated. Free with purchase is what it is and not interested in singing up for monthly kit that may not be something I can ever use.

  31. Darcie says:

So, just for clarification, the giveaway is determinant on each customer spending $20 per month + shipping for the next 6 months?? Am I understanding it correctly?

    • April Foster says:

      Hi Darcie,

When you sign up for the waiting list, you are committing to purchase a minimum of 6 month’s worth of kits. There are tons of other benefits to subscribing as well, but your card will not be charged until your first kit is shipped.

Feel free to ask about our waiting list on the Studio Calico message board. We’ve done some fun things in the past and plan more in the future. ;)

  32. Colleen says:

I hope people that sign up understand what exactly they are getting signed up for. While I would love some free cards, signing up for the waiting list isn’t free. And you can’t simply cancel your subscription with no penalty either. This isn’t a giveaway, it’s a free with purchase.

    • Darcie says:

Thanks, Colleen. That’s what I was trying to communicate. You’re actually committing to a few hundred dollars spent…

  33. Valerie says:

Wow, I WAS going to sign up, but after seeing everyone’s comments on here, I’m not going to. I think it’s wrong that people who are already waiting for their kits don’t get to join in on this contest, and also now have 100+ MORE people added to their waiting list. Bad call, Studio Calico, and Becky Higgins. Bad call.

If you’re going to sell the stuff and collect peoples’ money, you should have enough product to give the people after they’ve paid!

    • April Foster says:

      Hi Valerie,

I understand your frustration, and in fact, we have fun stuff planned for those on our waiting list prior to this giveaway. Taking care of our current customers is extremely important to us.
Anyone already on the waiting list, and those that are starting with March kit, will have freebies coming, too.

  34. TeriBeri says:

HI BEKCY!!! Yay this is so exciting and sooooo sweet!!! I was fortunate enough to make it into the first batch of SC/PL kit and I LOVE everything about it – the quality, the array of embellishments, the colors, the difference cards & the packaging of course hehe. I have used up most of January and February already. ♥♥♥ PROJECT LIFE ♥♥♥ Hugs, T

  35. Jennifer Shimer, Massachusetts says:

I want to qualify! Love Project Life!

  36. Jessi says:

Hmmm…I’ve been on the waiting list since Dec. 26th. How is it that they have a set of a hundred cards to just give away??? I FINALLY got my email saying that I’m off the wait list but have yet to receive a kit. It would be nice for the people who signed up months ago to get what they’ve been waiting for.

    • April Foster says:

Jessi, I completely understand your frustration and we are sorry we didn’t accurately anticipate the demand for this kit. We are working every day to meet the demand, which is evidenced by the fact you’ll receive the March kit. Yay!
Also, we have a freebie in the works for you and others in the same situation to help pass the time :)

  37. Rachael says:

LOVE this!! I have been wanting to start, big time!

  38. Shannon A says:

I love SC products! If we join the PL subscription on SC, which in turn puts us on the Feb wait list (I think). Do we only get charged for the Feb wait list, if/when one becomes available? Also, if we join the PL subscription, and no March kits are available are we still charged March 1? Thanks! :)

    • Shannon A says:

To clarify I am not at all voicing a complaint in my post above. I really want to join the SC PL Subscription and just have some questions about it. ;)

    • Colleen says:

This was posted in response to someone else.
When you sign up for the waiting list, you are committing to purchase a minimum of 6 month’s worth of kits. There are tons of other benefits to subscribing as well, but your card will not be charged until your first kit is shipped.

ETA: It should also be known that if you decide to remove yourself from the waiting list, you will be charged a $15 penalty.

    • April Foster says:

Colleen posted my reply, so the information below is correct. Let me know if I can help further.

    • Shannon A says:

Thanks April and Colleen! Helps much! :)

  39. kelly libby says:

Hmmm… Here’s an idea: People should just try and be thankful for a free gift. If you don’t want the gift and/or aren’t happy with it, then you have the choice to not sign up. It’s paper. Very cute paper. but, seriously… Why such negativity???!! This is a blog. about scrapbooking. no need.

I will be VERY HAPPY with any gift I get…and I will wait. Being on a waiting list isn’t fun… Life isn’t instantaneous. We have to wait for good things.

    • April Foster says:

truly appreciate your patience. We’re working hard to meet the demand!

    • It sounds like most people are upset because this isn’t really a giveaway. It’s not a free gift. You have to pay for the monthly subscription before you get a handful of cards. I looked at them on their website and, while they are very cute, I don’t feel like they’re that different from freebies you can get online. 30 free cards with a 6 month ($150) subscription doesn’t seem like a good deal to me.

  40. Jenny Dziekan says:

What a super wonderful and generous idea. But, yet again people are complaining. Surprise, surprise. Thank you SC for all u do. I’ve never seen a company listen to its customers like u do!

  41. Karen says:

Shocked by all the complaining and entitled attitudes. SC was trying to do something nice and all of you bratty children have ruined that. Shame on you!

    • Jennifer says:

Yours is the first comment I have seen that has included name-calling.

    • Melissa says:

No one has been rude or disrespectful in this thread. There have been questions and concerns. When you call something a giveaway, it implies it’s open to everyone and there’s no purchase required to “win.”

I LOVE SC’s Project Life kits. I subscribed day one without ever having purchased from them before, and have been super happy with them. It is misleading and questionable that they would promote this “giveaway” which actually requires everyone to sign up for the 6 month Project Life commitment, or at the very least, end up paying a $15 cancellation charge to cancel the subscription. This “giveaway” earns them money, so I can certainly see why people would question it.

From another angle, those, like me, who signed up on the first day of the announcement appear to be left out of this promotion, even though people receiving the March kits get a freebie. SC claims that we’ve had access to buy products and have special shipping rates and class discounts, all things that earn them money. So we are seemingly actually being punished for not being on the waiting list.

Voicing concerns and displeasure does not make people “bratty.”

  42. nicole anderson says:

looks neat…cant wait to find out

  43. Amanda lester says:

Wow these comments are intense lol I was a little bummed to see that I have to pay to subscribe and I do agree that it’s definitely a little misleading if you’re not already familiar with how the studio calico subscriptions work. Definitely not willing to invest $150 (6 month subscription) for kits I don’t know if ill even like. Why not have tiered options where 1 month is maybe 40, 3 months is 35 per month and 6 months is 25 per month etc. You get the point lol And it would make a lot more sense so people could try it out.

    • April Foster says:

Thanks for the feedback, Amanda. We do have the option to make a single purchase. The PL kit is $24.99 as opposed to $19.99 for subscribers, but we have not had any available since the kit launched as kits are allocated to subscribers first.

As for the kit concept, it’s definitely a personal preference. Many like not knowing exactly what they’re getting and having a surprise. They’ve committed to Studio Calico because of past kits and knowing they’ve wanted to buy the majority of kits and the discount of subscribing makes it worthwhile. Feel free to check out our past kits to get an idea of our style :)

    • Amanda lester says:

Oh okay. Ill consider taking advantage of that if it ever becomes available. Hopefully you guys can figure a way to balance supply and demand. The things I would buy on the website are always sold out. : )

    • April Foster says:

Thanks so much for understanding. We really do want to get a kit in the hands of anyone who wants to purchase one :)

    • Martha says:

Then, honestly, why don’t t you? you are a business, you’ve been in business awhile, you know how to make product. i think your waitlists & lack of supply for obvious demand is just a marketing scheme. you are disingenuous and all about hype. As Becky is now turning out to be. She lost that hype quality after the Project 365 debacle years ago, opened her own business, was quite upfront and not about the BS hype stuff, and now, with her new affiliations, is back in the fray of BS. I’m done! :)

i cant wait to buy this for my project life

I have been wait for this for a long time

  45. Lynn says:

Looking forward to adding this to my projects. Loving the mini project life books. Great for homeschoolers and trips!

  46. Jill says:

Great giveaway! Just wish I hadn’t paid $19.95 plus shipping for what is now being sent out free :(

    • Alisa says:

Well Jill, take heart. You paid 19.95 plus shipping for it, they’ll be paying 119.70 plus shipping for the cards since they’ll be bound to a six month sub contract.

      You come out on top.

This is quite possibly the most poorly run company around.

If you suddenly “found” 100 sets of cards, they should have been mailed to the first 100 people on your wait list.

  47. Bev Mascara says:

Good site. Already been there. Thanks

  48. Carolyn Carter says:

    Dear SC,
Can’t wait to receive my surprise in the mail! I’ve only started doing PL in the middle of January and signed up with SC on Feb 1st so I’m on the waiting list. I look everyday to see if I’ve been upgraded lol. Looking forward to receiving kits and using them in my PL

  49. Dawn Evelyn says:

Awesome! Been on the wait list about a week! Can’t wait go join!

  50. Oh, I am so excited!!! I am already on the waitlist, but hold up!? We’re getting a goodie ALREADY!!!? SWEET DEAL!!!! Seriously, Becky, you are what makes this industry SO AWESOME!!!!

  51. Brenda says:

I am excited about this. I’ve been on the fence about joining and this just made me take the plunge. I don’t see a time stamp on my joining but it was mid morning CST so hopefully I got in.

  52. liz says:

i had been back and forth to join and this gave me the extra push!
how will we know if we are one of the first 100? i joined, entered my CC info about an hour ago but have not received any type of email yet-
    thanks again for the chance!

    • April Foster says:

Hi Liz! If you’ve joined by the time I’m typing this, you’re in. We will post to the message board when it’s cut off and you can check the time-stamp on your dashboard page. Also, we’ll be sending you an email to confirm. Welcome!

    • Heidi says:

I have the same question as liz – I signed up for a new Studio Calico account around 9:15 this morning. I got an email to activate my account, which I did. I clicked on the waiting list and entered my CC info. It’s been several hours and I still haven’t received any further emails, nor can I see a time stamp on my dashboard. Help!

  53. Michelle Huegel says:

I probably don’t need to add my opinion at this point, but when has that ever held me back?! LOL
I agree with much of what Melissa said earlier in the comments. I appreciate that Becky and the SC team has left up the negative comments and responded respectfully and appropriately – everyone SHOULD have the right to express their opinion, positive or negative. I also am impressed that Becky responded by promptly editing the blog post. THANK YOU for clarifying the giveaway vs. free-with-purchase issue!! I think it’s much clearer now.
I was a brand-new SC customer when I signed up for the PL kit waaaay back when they first announced it, I knew I was going to do Project LIfe paper even though I’m a digital scrapper, so I jumped at the chance to get a curated selection of top-brand, coordinating products every month. That said, our budget is super tight and it was a major commitment even for that $25 (inc. shipping). I haven’t been financially able to take advantage of the other membership “perks” – all of which require spending more money. Although I don’t feel entitled to free stuff just because others are getting something, and I’m happy for those on the waitlist to get a little consolation prize, I also feel that a little treat for your loyal existing customers (something that doesn’t require us spending MORE money that we don’t all have), would be sweet and go a long way toward smoothing feathers.
It’s been a rough couple months even for subscribers, as the battle over kits, add-ons, and shop items has been a little crazy.
Anyway, sorry for the novel-length comment. I do appreciate the customer service evidenced in these comments, I have been happy with my kits so far and March is looking amazing! Thank you Becky for partnering with SC, I look forward to more good things from this partnership :)

    • April Foster says:

Hi Michelle, thanks for your comments. I agree with you 100% and we are always working on making our customer experience better. We can’t always talk about what is in the hopper, but we do have something that all subscribers will be raving about. I just wish I could snap my fingers and make it happen sooner!

  54. Christine Parker says:

Just a little bummed that I just signed up for Studio Calico’s Project Life on Monday 2/18… and all I received was an e-mail this afternoon with six of the cards from the February kit for me to print out on my own. If I had only waited until today I would be receiving the actual cards. Oh well… I always seem to miss out on the better perks!

    • April Foster says:

Hi Christine….read a little further..you have happy mail coming your way ;)

    • Christine Parker says:

Thanks, April…any idea if my Happy Mail was ever sent? I see some have received it…and many people are buying some off of eBay, but mine has not arrived yet. Can’t wait to get started! Thanks.

  55. Michelle says:

I have looked at SC’s products and everything looks so interesting and well-coordinated. But… as disappointed as I am to have to confess this, the “drama” of how they sell and market their products has been a major turn-off to me and has prevented me from ever purchasing from them. Memory keeping should be a stress-reliever, not a stress-inducer. SC could print more products instead of always selling out and creating a buying frenzy for customers. They could stop the antics with all of these “available starting at midnight” or “to the first 100 customers” or “commit to buying a kit before seeing its contents” kinds of issues, recognizing that these tactics breed confusion, competition, disappointment and frustration among customers.

I am not only interested in great products; I care about the kind of company I’m buying them from. And for me, SC just isn’t the kind of place where I’ll spend my money. I’m voicing this opinion here not to be negative, but to merely offer constructive feedback in terms of how I (and many others I know) perceive this company in a less than ideal light– in hopes that they might reconsider how they do business.

Becky, I have the utmost respect for your company and especially how you have conducted it. But, I think that your partnership with SC means that you’re joining forces with a company whose standards are not on par with those you maintain. Again, not trying to be negative here, just wanting to be honest and say that my hope is that SC can step things up.

    • April Foster says:

      Hi Michelle!

I agree with you 100% and thanks so much for the feedback.

    • Martha says:

If you agree, April, do something about it. it’s not like you are in some helpless position. Admit that you like the drama and hype and have formalized it into a marketing strategy for your company! So silly to pretend it’s beyond your control!!

    • Ginger says:

Funny that you agree your company is subpar April!!!!! RFLAO!

  56. Cassie Kennett says:

I have been on the waiting list for a little while, looking forward to when I can purchase! Thank you for putting the kits out, they are perfect for those like me who are less creative than others and need a push!! Keep up the good work!

  57. Helen says:

I am on the waiting list, joined this month and i wish there was more information on when i will receive my first kit. I keep seeing the sneak peeks but want to know if i will receive that one.
Also i think this offer is crazy, they need to get the people on waiting list sorted first before more join. why couldnt they make these cards from feb kit into a kit or sell the selection of cards for those waiting, i would be happy if could buy the cards alone from the previous months to get me started. I just dont know what to use for the months where i dont have a kit for as i want my album to tie in with each month and use the same products.

  58. Cindy T. says:

I agree with Michelle. We, who signed up for the kit sight unseen, are getting penalized for being trustworthy and loyal. Just sayin.

  59. Lisa-Marie says:

It is possible for current subscribes to the PL kit to also receive the email with the February cards so they can print them out themselves at home? I’d love to be able to print out a few of my favourite February cards (in particular the love you to the moon and back card) and use them again :)

  60. Tiffany says:

I guess I am confused… I signed up recently (last week? this week?) and thought that meant I would start getting the March kit and be able to buy the addons etc. — now I read that people signed up in january and haven’t gotten any kits yet?

how long will it be before I get my first PL kit?

  61. Donna B. says:

Has the 100 mark been reached? Haven’t seen any announcement yet?

  62. Tammy says:

What about those of us that live on fixed incomes and can’t afford the kits. Could you offer a discount.

    • Ginger says:

Um. You don’t buy what you can’t afford. Are you wanting a business to have a sliding scale based on income? seriously?

  63. Debbie says:

tudio Calico may not always be able to satisfy everyone all the time, but it’s just like any other product that’s out there…if you snooze, you lose. But SC seems to have really great designers, who come out with some special, beautiful and apparently, “cut-throat’ worthy, product. I made it off the waiting list, and will be getting my first kit in March, and damn it, I’m pretty excited about it. I wasn’t feeling the love through half of December and and all of January, but it is what it is. Seems like the SC team needs to let it all hang out and tell everyone what’s happening (like I think they have been trying to do)…for example, our freebie cards are only SIX of the set, so don’t fret that you’re paying and I’m getting it for free…I’m really not. I didn’t get that ridiculously awesome moon card at all. And I wanted it. BAD. I AM a little jealous that these lucky 100 will get an actual card SET, and I keep hoping that they’ll offer ALL the cards as a digital purchase. It isn’t like we’d be able to get all the other super awesome stuff in the kit, but at least we’d be able to get a card set. Although….I’m sure that would open a whole other can of worms!!!

  64. beth says:

I am confused. I went on the “waitlist” end of jan / first of feb. Missed out on the Jan kit and figured the ONLY way to get one is a sub. Well, still nothing for this month . Not sure when they ship. Yet when I attempted to get in on the “1st hundred” gig, I was sent a reply that I am already on the waitlist?
Does anyone have any idea how this works? I assumed I would be getting a kit this month ?
I provided all my biling info so I have no idea what happens next.already contact SC, waiting for a reply.
    Just looking for info ……..

  65. Laura G says:

    Wow—lots of negative, and positive.
I’m n the waiting list too!

  66. Kathleen says:

It’s great to see such excitement about our hobby though I really wish everyone would keep it in perspective that it is a hobby and ultimately we are trying to help document memories, which should be fun and happy?!?!

If people read the initial posting and these trails they will see that you get a free gift if you are already on the waiting list and a free gift if you are one of the lucky 100 joining the list. Either way, you will get a PL kit if you are patient…it’s just a matter of time. Production has to catch up with demand – that’s how it works in any industry. Studio Calico is not perfect but they certainly are not in a conspiracy theory here.

Be creative and use your own stuff to start your memory keeping journey and cross your fingers and think positive to get on the Studio Calico Project Life kit in the next month or two if you want it.

Have a great Sunday everyone! And thanks to Becky Higgins and Studio Calico for sharing these fun promotions and cool products!

  67. Christine Parker says:

Just wondering….. did anyone get their Happy Mail yet?

  68. Penelope says:

I got my kit in the mail last night! It’s wonderful! So many pretty cards and a darling veneer one too (I’ve seen it on some of the PL pages before). it really is a nice little free gift, and now I have a better idea of what to expect from SC.
    Thank you!

  69. Kimmy Davis says:

I also received my free cards last week, and I’m so thankful for them. February is a special month in our family, and the special cards really add something something new to my pages. I don’t have a lot of money to spend chasing the newest releases of anything, so to get these cards free is a blessing. Thank you Becky! (I’m saying thank you to Studio Calico separately.)
