IDEAS FOR MEMORY KEEPING

  • “We Noticed” journals for the kids.
  • Q&A journals with the kids
  • Personal journals, or as Becky Higgins calls it for herself: “Notes of the Spirit”
  • Family Yearbooks
  • Kids’ albums (check out this blog post for more details and helpful tips & videos)
  • Video clips. Keep taking video, even if you don’t know what you’re going to do with it.

MAKING A PERSONAL OR FAMILY YEARBOOK

  • Focus on this year; you don’t need to worry about the years that aren’t done. Start fresh!
  • Online class about making a yearbook = LINK
  • You can document in less than 10 minutes a week
  • You do not have to be a scrapbooker; no skills required
  • As you record, you may notice moments you wouldn’t have noticed before

“Your story is worth telling.”

Do even just ONE thing. It will make you feel amazing! And it will help you kick any feelings of memory-keeping guilt to the curb! You will be completely equipped to do something when you have the tools.

Thank you for your latest podcast. As a memorykeeper I really enjoyed it and it gave me so much energy (again). I got a bit lost in transit when it comes to my personal memorykeeking process next to design team work and real life and I needed a boost. Thank you for that! I bought two nice journals just the day before ( international shipping would be too high but when I´ll visit my family abroad in OH I´ll order a bunch of yours!) and started today. YES, I´m saying this…It feels so good to write things down. Can you imagine that most of my 12″layouts just have a bit of a journaling -on the back! Need to change that, because I realized in 2018 how important it is to me to REMEMBER ALL the things.

I have LOVED every podcast. This one struck me to the core. I have followed Becky from when she was doing Creating Keepsakes. My stuff is everywhere and I have purchased both of her classes to try to pull myself together. In regards to this podcast…I have done all sorts of scrapbooking. I have cutesy scrapbooks, I have physical project life albums, and I have albums created in the app. Here is my plug. I taught a class in our church group (Relief Society) about the importance of journaling. I have lost both of my parents and my only sister at a younger age. Journaling and keeping memories of them for my children is VITAL to me and apparently qualified me to teach this class…NOT. Anyway I shared my albums and really tried to make them understand how easy the app is to use. I have used the Project Life App to create mission scrapbooks for my two returned missionaries and my daughter who is currently serving. It is soooo easy to just download their emailed pictures onto your phone and they are right there when you can turn them into a scrapbook page. It’s bliss!!
