Pocket Scrapbooking with Project Life

Cultivate a good life and record it.

introducing Project 52!

Pretty exciting stuff, friends. It’s always so fun to announce new products, and I know some of you are ready just to get shopping, but first — may I share a quick story with you?

Once upon a time (in 2008) I embarked on a personal journey called Project 365. My goal was that instead of documenting just big events and occasions and trips, I would focus more on the everyday stuff of life. I set aside traditional scrapbooking and instead featured one picture from each day in a photo album.

This became, for me, an incredibly successful and rewarding memory-keeping experience. I felt like I had never documented our family’s day-to-day story better. I believed so much in what I was doing that it became an actual, physical product. Project 365 was a scrapbooking kit that would become the way that thousands of families documented their story that following year.

This product evolved into a full-blown company, and I’ve been running that business for the past 5+ years with the same passion I had when we started it. And speaking of running a company, it sort of takes a lot to do that. Physically, financially, emotionally… So my personal scrapbooking in the past few years has taken a little bit of a hit. This hasn’t been totally discouraging to me because Project Life® makes is so, so, so easy to catch up when I’m able to do some scrapbooking a couple times a year. And that’s great.

But you know what I miss? I miss scrapbooking along the way. Don’t get me wrong; I love a good “catch-up session” now and again, and it truly is so liberating to get so much done in such a short period of time. But the documentation of the day-to-day as it’s happening? There’s just something about it that I love (and miss) so much.

So that’s why I wanted to develop a product that was specifically designed to help me – and you – document a year’s worth of stories and memories and mundane moments – one week at a time.

Enter Project 52

The concept is simple. And many of you have already been documenting life this way. I’ve done it myself a few years in the past. Now as we face a brand new year, I have a personal and deep resolve to be back on track with awesome, everyday documenting of our happenings and adventures and little moments in between.

We asked one of our favorite designers – Kimberly Church – to design a Project Life edition that is specific to this concept of documenting life week by week by week and all 52 weeks of the year. One layout per week and occasionally an extra layout as needed. That’s it. Simple as simple can be. Project 52 has a gorgeously happy color palette and the coolest designs. Kimberly did an awesome job, and I’m honored to use this collection for my main ongoing scrapbooking project in 2015!

Project 52 Options

I hope many of you will join me in documenting life week-to-week in 2015! Certainly we’ve provided a lot of Project Life collections for you to document life however it best suites your personal style. Should you choose the Project 52 collection, you have a few options:

PHYSICAL VERSION. There is one place + one place only that you can find the physical, tangible version of Project 52, and that is in our online shop. This is not available in other stores – anywhere. The physical offering of Project 52 is available in limited quantities. It’s available for purchase TODAY… right now! When they’re gone, they’re gone – and we do not have plans to produce any more.

To see all of the Project 52 products in one place, go HERE. We have a Core Kit, Album, 6×6 Paper Pad, Embossing Folders, Clear Photo Overlays, and even a pack of Specialty Cards to coordinate. What’s missing right now are lots of gorgeous pictures that show more of the product. Be sure to watch my social media for updates on that. Right now the products are live in the shop – just not a lot of imagery.

NOTE: Right now we do not have international shipping available, but we’ve been working to get that activated (there’s more involved than you might imagine) and we will certainly announce as soon as we have that option. Shipping fees will be a bear — there’s no way around that; international shipping it just outrageous — but at least it will be an option.

DIGITAL VERSION. Same designs. Digital format. No limited quantities. No potential to sell out. No shipping. This is an excellent option for those who love to scrapbook using their computers. The digital version of Project 52 will be available very soon — early January.

APP VERSION. Same designs. No limited quantities. No potential to sell out. No shipping. And … available in the palm of your hand! As you know, the Project Life app is a game changer for so many. The app is available worldwide and testimonials from happy customers are all over the place. We’re delighted to offer Project 52 for those of you who are using and loving the app on your iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini, or iPod Touch (Android version is in the works but there’s no ETA at this time). Project 52 will become available in the app very soon – early January.

Options, options, options. Project Life used to be available in just one way and that was that. I’m so grateful for technology and an awesome, hard-working team of people who have made it possible to bring you Project Life in a few different ways now!

How I’m personally going to use Project 52

My personal approach to documenting my family’s story in 2015 is going to be with the app. I will do my usual picture-taking and then once a week I will spend 10 minutes choosing a handful of photos that represent our family’s week, pop those into the page templates, add cards from this kit and a few notes of journaling … and that’s it! All in the palm of my hand. Ten minutes per week to have our ongoing story documented. Then I’ll print this as a bound book at the end of 2015 and each of our kids will also have a copy of the family yearbook, which is something I’ve been doing for a number of years now. Printing capability will soon be added to the Project Life app.

I kind of want to cry right now (happy cry) with how excited I am TO document 2015 this way. It’s so easy. So do-able. So fun! And when I do find a little extra time to do some other scrapbooking, I love keeping up with our kids’ albums using the physical product in 12×12 albums so I can keep all their stuff right there with the pages. That’s the beauty of Envelope Pages.

Here’s to 2015!

Who’s with me in the new year? Are you going to do Project 52? Which method works best for you – physical, digital, or app?

Its like you read my mind….that is the exact method I was thinking of documenting 2015! Although I am also going to try a 365 on my Collect App as well. I am trying December Daily for the first time this month and it is so has been so easy with the app. But lets face it, it is easy to get behind so weekly documenting will be PERFECT! Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

  2. Shelley says:

    I’m all in Becky!

  3. Lindsay says:

This is super exciting!!! And an absolutely gorgeous kit, I can’t wait for it to come out on the app, I didn’t think Project Life could get any easier but it has!

  4. Katrina H says:

I did Project 365 when you came out with it, and it has stuck with me since then. I like the week at a time approach, but I’m still so stuck on one photo per day. But I may change it up at some point. I mostly use the physical product, but I do have some of the digital files and I downloaded the app when it was on sale. I was going to use the Kiwi Edition for next year, but I may need to switch to this new one. Hmmm…..

  5. Deirdre says:

Bummer no International shipping! :( Would it help if I give you my UPS customer number? By the time International shipping is available, this amazing kit will be out of stock!

  6. Kate says:

    Sounds and looks great!

I, too, am planning on doing 2015 using your app, doing a spread each Sunday night and we are done! I’ll miss doing calligraphy and handwriting but I’ll get over it! This looks like the perfect kit to do it with!

Question – do you put stuff in the envelope pages and keep them with the relative digital books? Or how do you incorporate them/keep them with the right year? Thanks.

Merry Christmas from Sydney, Australia :)

  7. Brynn Rogerz says:

    Thanks for your great products!
Where do you print your bound books at the end of the year?

  8. Tracey mason says:

Well I prefer physical but it’s going to have to be digital as I’m a international :-(

  9. Kris F says:

It would be really great if you could post more photos of the kit 4×6 and 3×4 cards.

  10. Kimberly says:

I’m in! I just purchased the physical edition and will also purchase the app

  11. For the last 2 years, I have joined several other Blog Mama’s all over and documented weekly Portraits of my kids: “A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” This is the link to the website:

I have always wanted a special way to “present” these special weekly photos, and now, this core kit is absolutely perfect for my 2015 photos! I placed my order as soon as I saw 52 project! :) Thank you so much for this!

  12. Sarah K says:

I’m going with the physical version for now …although i’ll likely buy the app too and ‘mix ‘n’ mingle’. Becky – you continue to make our day!

  13. Sheri says:

PROJECT LIFE APP….please make one for Android. Not all of us use an iPhone or an iPad. Love this Project 52!

  14. Keesha O'Brien says:

Sooooooo glad you are making Project 52 available via digital AND the app!!! I cannot wait!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Daily is too much for me, but weekly that’s doable!

  15. Sheri says:

I’ve been doing Project Life on Shutterfly since 2011 and I’m very intrigued by the App option. How does the book printing work? I’d like to stick with bound books since I now have 3 years worth of 8×8 books to stack together!

  16. Sue WNY says:

10 minutes per week? I don’t believe it… you’re either super woman who can make super quick decisions or simply overly optimistic… would love to watch a You Tube video with a Timer from start to finish… sorry, Becky… I like you and appreciate your honesty about being behind in doing scrapbooks but was surprised when you referenced catching up twice a year… we’re all busy… seems like the creator of the Project Life movement would make staying current a priority.

    • Karen says:

Sue I used the app whilst we drove between destinations on our trip and I reckon ten mins is doable

    • club20 says:

Aren’t we so lucky that the creator of Project Life has made her customers her priority! Can’t wait for 2015 and this new kit.

    • Lis says:

1 week in 10 minutes… TOTALLY do-able!! That’s the beauty of the system! Give it a try and you’ll see! :)

  17. Dana says:

SOOO waiting for this and SOOO Happy!!! My order is in!

  18. Karen says:

Iove the idea of using the app – but what do I do with the physical stuff
That is still the question for me
I think I will go digi and print what I need
I could not even fit weekly in this year but I used the app for our four state, three week trip to Uluru and man that made me happy

  19. Aussie Mum says:

Thanks Becky for yet another beautiful core kit. You and your company just keep getting better and better…. . I was so lucky to have met you this year when you visited Sydney, I just wanted to say you are the sweetest person and thank you for visiting us down under…… I hope you and your family have the most wonderful Christmas..xx

    • Chantal says:

You do get that we can’t order this right? Her store doesn’t ship overseas. So unless you digi scrap we Aussies are out of luck.

  20. Melissa H. says:

I can’t decide if I love you or hate you for releasing this on December 23.

  21. Liz says:

I am so happy this will be available for the app!

  22. Chantal says:

Becky- as one of your devoted Australian customers I’m disappointed by your decision to only have this kit available through your store. You have successfully left out anyone who is NOT AMERICAN from buying this. Yes I understand we can use the digital version, but I don’t really like digi scrapping and I like having the physical product in my hand.
Your site doesn’t ship overseas, so simply I cannot order this kit.
I’m quite annoyed at you right now actually.

    • laura g. says:

I use the digital version to print up the cards I like…I like to have the physical product to work with…old fashioned I know…but it’s paper therapy!!!

  23. Bronwyn says:

Count me in too!! :) I will be doing Digital and iPhone. Can’t wait.

Will there be a group somewhere where those that are doing this can chat like Facebook or Big Picture Classes. That would be fun too.

  24. Becky Nielson says:

I would also like to know how and where you print your books at the end of the year. Thanks for another great product!

  25. susie says:

Seriously???? No international buying options yet? We have sorted you year after year and now when there is a product I really want, I can’t even get it through crafthouse… Not impressed at all

  26. Debora Prass says:

Sorry, but I didn’t understand what’s the difference between this new kit / project and the Project Life core kits. Aren’t all the PL kits design to document weeks? I do it as it happens already. Please explain more! Tks!

  27. mindy says:

I startedcto tear up too!! so exciting.. I plan on using this, I am excited about it. I will most likely buy all versions, because I do that.. my husband hasn’t compmained.. yet. ;) thanks becky!!! (and team.)

  28. Annie says:

Congrats on the new kit, it looks great! I would love if you evolved your product line to cater for 8.5 x 11 albums. The 12×12 became too big and cumbersome for me this year (after 3 years) and the smaller album (6×8?) is way too small. I’m hoping for this middle of the road size! Thanks, hope you seriously consider this :)

    • Claire says:

I agree Annie! I recently suggested to the company that they consider a 9×12 size similar to the 9×8 sewn in version with more pages! I would love that size too for the same reasons you listed! Plus for those of us without a family, we typically have less pictures. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Becky & Project Life in 2015!! It’s been neat to see how much the company has grown over the past few years!

    • Kay says:

I, too, agree, Annie. Most of my previous albums have been 12×12. You are right, they are so heavy and cumbersome! I’ve decided to only do 8 1/2×11 from now on – easier to store on a shelf and so-o-o much easier to look through, etc.

  29. Lorie Ames says:

I’m super excited to say…I’m going to do the paper version of this although I’d prefer the app version. Please, please, please bring the Project Life app to android soooooon!

  30. Velma says:

This is perfect for me as I’m new to Project Life. I can’t wait to get this new product!

  31. Susan says:

Where are the dividers for project 52 ?

  32. Loving this kit! So many things on my wishlist. Curious – as you add international shipping options if you’d consider updating US shipping options to include USPS options for those of us in Hawaii? I’ve been unable to purchase any new products for quite some time because the shipping fees have been prohibitive (the last order I considered placing was for about $65 in products – everything would have easily fit in a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate box and shipped for less than $15, but the shipping charges in the shop were $135!). Unfortunately, living on Maui I also have nowhere to buy physical products (No Michaels or Hobby Lobby or other shopping options). I’ve been very disappointed about this and am not sure how or if I’ll be able to get my hands on Becky Higgins products for 2015.

  33. Mia A. says:

hm. I guess it’s time for us non-US people who used to love PL to find something new. Not being able to get the physical product due to the way this company plans on doing business means I am not considered a valued customer any more. PL as US thing only is sad, but seems Becky wants it that way.

  34. Julie says:

I just used the App & it was so easy! I believe I can fit this in! Thanks Becky for another great idea! Merry Christmas & happy 52!

  35. Pam bassett says:

I have to be honest. I do not understand why some non-USA posters are being so rude to Becky. I am not sure, but I do not think Becky promised everyone in the world that they could buy Project Life. I know there are things in other countries that I cannot buy. We adopted our sons from Russia and I have wanted to buy some things from there but the shipping prohibited it-$90 shipping for a $35 ethnic shirt for example. I think it is great that Becky offers digital and app which is available to all. I am not a personal friend of hers and have never met Becky.
Just be fair and kind and Happy Holidays!

    • Dagmar says:

I totally agree some comments are very rude. If you don’t like the digital version just print the cards you want and put it in your pages. Apparently some just don’t understand how much there is involved with a company to ship overseas and all the work that goes with it. Than they would complaine about the cost to ship it anyway. Just enjoy what is available to you and make it work.

  36. Lori says:

Well said, Pam. Wishing everyone a happy 2015, no matter HOW you scrap it! :)

  37. TrishMD says:

I am SO looking forward to the APP and this project. Thank you, once again, Becky!

  38. Dawn Renee' says:

I am dying here! Want the android version soon, will be wonderful. I have a note phone and tablet so this would be perfect to keep up for a change. Will be watching for this!

  39. Kristin says:

This is interesting, but am curious how this differs from regular old Project Life. Don’t most scrappers record a week at a time anyway? The beauty of Project Life is the ease and time-saving benefits., so I don’t fully understand Project 52 yet. Is this a sort of “back to basics” push?

  40. hayley says:

I just wish there was international shipping as harder to get the full stock now scrapbook coach has closed. Is there anywhere stocking this in uk where I can buy this kit? It is so frustrating when you want it. I dont do digital at all.

  41. Lexi says:

Project 52 seems perfect for those who like to have a weekly book :) I am definitely starting this for 2015! Very exciting.

  42. So excited to take this approach to my scrapbooking! I am looking forward to diving deeper into why I scrapbook in the first place and to committing to a weekly approach. It may not always happen in real life, but it’s nice to have a goal in place. I cannot wait to to document, to create, to share with Project 52.

  43. Audrey says:

What photo pages designs would be best to order for the Project 52 kit?

  44. Stephanie says:

Hi – I love this so much and can’t wait to begin! I am a crazy avid samsung galaxy picture taker (my phone) when will your app be ready for android users … don’t get me wrong I have the App on my iPad but transferring the photos takes too much and so I end up not using it as much as i want to … Thanks!

  45. Ali Dunphy says:

Happy hols Becky just love reading your blog and follow you on FB. I have the app which I love and share my pages on FB. I tried project 365 to take photo per day but got behind. I have physically tried to cover 2013 some months completed got pics for 2014 but not even started and the year is over. Had two years of heartache with my gorgeous mum losing her battle 11 weeks ago and know this is one reason I haven’t doc the year but also a reason I should for precious memories

  46. Kelli says:

I’m so sad some international Project Lifers are being so negative. Becky had a vision and the gumption to turn it into a company. She’s marketing a product that so many of us LOVE, and she’s doing her best to bring it to as many people as quickly as possible! Rather than hating on her because she isn’t satisfying your every whim immediately, how about some compliments for how hard she’s working? Or even just expressing disappointment and how excitedly you’re waiting for it to be available internationally? She often does giveaways that are available internationally, and if all else fails, get on the forums and facebook groups and make friends with someone in the US to be your shipping agent. Until you, too, have had a genius idea and put in the work to share it with millions, take a step back from the criticism and appreciate the effort she’s made. There’s no need for unkind words about this. Thanks so much for all your hard work, Becky. You’re an example I look to often when I get tired with everything on my plate. PL has made such an impact on how I look at and appreciate every little thing in my life, and I’m so grateful you put in the time and effort to share it with so many.

  47. pam says:

Note: I purchased a set of Project Life pens over the weekend in a store. I live 3 hours from the store, so I tried the pens before I left the store parking lot. Good thing I did, 2 of the 3 pens did not work. I went back in and got another pack, all 3 worked just fine. Maybe it was a fluke, but so you don’t get home with pens that don’t write, check them before you leave the store.

  48. Stacey says:

I started with Becky when she released Project 365 and then used that approach of a picture a day until sometime last year when I just became too bogged down with other things to keep up. I’m looking forward to going back over all my pictures this year and filling in my 2014 albums I started but never filled in. It will be an interesting gap in my PL albums, as previously I only missed 2 photos in the 5 prior POD recording. I don’t think this kit differs much from the other PL kits other than specifically being set around 52 weeks. I’ve used plenty of other kits that way and been fine, so I see why other people don’t feel the need for this kit. But for me, I’m excited to get back on the POD method, or as close to it as I can this year.

  49. Sherry says:

I just downloaded the app and made my first layout in 5 minutes. This is amazing and I’m suddenly filled with inspiration! I was an avid paper scrapbooker when my kids were first born and now that they are teens and tweens, I have NO time for any creative pursuits, but I do snap a lot of pictures of them with my phone. This is a brilliant solution and I am so excited to be inspired again to document the everyday! Thank you for creating this.

  50. Susie says:

    Love it! Looks fresh too.

How come this isn’t svailsble to AUS/NZ users in physical stock through paper trendz or craft house? That would avoid potential huge shipping costs from your USA store. Really unfair imo

  51. Stephanie says:

I’m so excited for this to go digital! I’m trying to complete 2015 in the app and in Photoshop from my couch or on the go. Can’t wait!

  52. Kim says:

This design is so absolutely darling that it was a huge motivator for me. I am starting project 52 this year and I keep checking to see if it’s on the app yet. So excited!!

  53. Lyndee says:

I Love this idea! I think it is a good way to remind our selves to document each little moment through out the week on top of the big things that happen during the month. As a mom with 2 young kids I sometimes forget that the little things matter too and that I won’t always remember them. I buying the kit today I can’t wait to get started. Thanks Becky!

  54. JoJo says:

Oh My Word, i love the look and idea of this kit, I am an app convert having scrapped 38 pages within the past 3 months and am eagerly awaiting the photobook i have ordered with the pages!

Cant wait for the kit to come on the app, any idea when in ‘early January’ it is coming out?

  55. berlygard says:

App! The PL App has been such a game changer for me! LOVE it.
ps– customers unable to have kit shipped, you can simply add the card you want in the app or digitally, and print it as a 4×6 photo. This allows you to still use a physical version of the kit.

  56. Roberta says:

I love your product Beccy.. Introducing my 9 year old daughter now to scrapbooking and memory keeping via the Project Life App. Both of us are keen to start the 52 challenge and was wondering when the digital version will be available..? Once again love your product and the way you move so quickly into new technology with fresh new ideas. Thanks :-)

  57. JJ says:

Hi there! LOVE project life stuff! It’s my most favorite.

When will Project 52 be available in the app?
