digital templates update

We have been working hard behind the scenes to bring you some exciting updates to our digital templates available at the Digital Project Life® store. We value our customers’ opinions, and these changes are a result of the suggestions we have received. Starting today, every template design that is purchased from Digital Project Life will come with three versions of the template: 1. The original digital template 2. New template with square corners 3. New round corners template.

Let’s dive a little deeper into what these changes mean. The square corner templates will allow you to have the squared off edges of your photos and cards for a more streamline look. You may be wondering if you will be able to use the digital card kits with the rounded corners in these new square corners templates. The answer is yes. In some cases you may need to slightly resize the card to cover the entire clipping mask, but the majority of the cards will work just fine. All of the digital kits starting with the 2016 CHA releases now have square corners, making it easier for the cards to work in either the square corner or the round corner templates. All Project Life by Stampin’ Up! and some digital exclusives also have cards with square corners. Make sure to check the previews in the store to see if the kit has square corners.

Updated round corners template — what does that even mean? When we first started working on the Project Life App, we knew we wanted to tweak the spacing of the clipping masks on the templates to make them more uniform and pleasing to the eye. We have matched the spacing of these new templates as closely as we can to the spacing you will find in the app. This is especially great for those of you who like to mix and match app layouts with layouts created on your computer. The change is subtle, but we think you will like it.

Of course we always want you to have access to your original purchase, and this is why we have also included the original version of the digital template in the new downloads. You might prefer this version to the updated version or you might be in the middle of an album and might not want to change template versions. Whatever the case may be, we’ve got you covered.

If you have previously purchased designs G-J, your new download will have additional options for you. Designs G-H are not standard 12×12 sized templates. Because of the configuration of the clipping masks, they are an odd size. With the update we have decided to provide you with not only the updated designs in their original sizing, but also a version with a 12×12 background. This will make it easier for you to print them as individual layouts or compile them into photobooks. You can still cut down the background once it is printed if you prefer.

digital template update; Project Life; BeckyHiggins.comWe have more great news for you. If you have previously purchased a template at Digital Project Life, you will receive an updated link via email to download the new zip file with the updated templates. No need to purchase again. This only applies to templates purchased at Digital Project Life and AC Digitals. We are unable to do this for templates purchased at other websites. Please make sure to check your email for the updated link. If you have used PayPal to purchase templates in the past, please make sure that you check the email address that is associated with your PayPal account. If you are having trouble downloading your updated templates, please wait a little bit and try again. Our download service may be running a little slow due to all of the excitement and traffic. Thanks for your patience!

If you are new to Digital Project Life and would like to learn more about it, please check out our Digital Project Life page. It will walk you through what you need to get started and will also link you to a video tutorial for how to use the digital templates in Photoshop Elements. This tutorial will also work if you are using full-version Photoshop. Our templates are in PSD format, so they are only fully functional in these two programs.

Also, we want to make you aware that the updates are only for the PSD templates for use on your computer with Photoshop. These updates are not related to the Project Life App. The PSD templates are not compatible with the Project Life App and cannot be imported into the app. The good news is that if you are using the app you already have all of these templates available to you. The square corner templates and the most recent round corner templates are already installed in the app and ready for you to use.

We hope you enjoy these new templates!

Thank you for offering square corners! Are there any plans to include square corners on the older digital kits? I know you say we can still use them with square corners and I have done so, but I frequently encounter round cards that don’t look right once I have slightly enlarged them to fill the square. This is the case with cards that have important design elements close to the edges. Things like borders, writing, etc. get cut off on these cards and I would love to be able to use them in a square layout.

Unfortunately we are not going to be updating the card kits. There are hundreds of kits in the store and it would be too labor intensive to redo every kit. We feel the best use of our time is focusing on new products with the square corners moving forward.

Yay!! I’m so happy that new card sets will have square corners. They’re so much more versatile for the digital scrapbooker. Thanks!! :) I’ve used lots of tricks to make the rounded corner cards work on square corner templates. The easiest is just making the card a little bigger to cover up the corners. When that doesn’t work, I often change the color of the template spot to match the background color of the card, so the rounded corners blend into the background. For cards that have decorative borders, I sometimes shrink them a bit, and then change the color of the template spot to a color that coordinates with the card.

I thought, why change the round cornered ones? Then I saw you were improving the spacing. I thought, “Oh! That’s terrific, but then why did she leave the original templates?” When I read the reason, I was absolutely blown away. HOW KIND of you to realize some people may need the original spacing to complete albums, etc. Project Life is terrific because you are a long-time scrapbooker who has been providing layout sketches, books, and scrapbook ideas since the CK days. You are a blessing, and thank you.

Can you use these templates in lightroom?

    • Laurie Pecotte says:

Lightroom can read PSD files, but we don’t recommend using them in Lightroom. They are only fully functional in Photoshop Elements or full-version Photoshop.

  5. Christina says:

So, correct me if I’m wrong. You will be sending out emails if we have purchased digital kits in 2016 to give us the option of square corners?? If so, I purchased the currently kit but have not received an email. Thank you for doing this as I don’t use rounded corners either. Look forward to your reply.

    • Laurie Pecotte says:

Hi Christina! No, this is just for the digital templates. This is not for any card kits that you have purchased. If you have purchased digital templates in the past from AC Digitals or from Digital Project Life, you should have received an email to download the updated templates. We are not going to be re-doing any of the kits on the site to have square corners. All kits moving forward will have the square corners. The good news for you is that the Currently Edition was part of the 2016 CHA kits and so it already has the square corners.

  6. Katie Nelson says:

This makes me SO happy! I’m a big fan of squared corners and I am so glad that the templates have been updated. Thank you!

  7. Jen says:

Thank you for making these changes and making the updates free for those who have purchased the templates already! I appreciate the excellent customer service :)

  8. Debi says:

This is so, so, so awesome! I received my email yesterday and uploaded my “new” old templates! I personally LOVE squared corners and was doing it the “old fashioned” way myself, modifying the PL templates, but you’ve just made is SO much easier for me. :) And, I have to say that I, quick like, sent off a thank you email… right into your “donotreplytothisemail”… hahaha! Anyways, thank you again… not many companies would go back and offer a new product for customers who ordered the “old” stuff… wonderful, thoughtful and extremely professional customer service!

  9. Paivi says:

Thank you so much for sending the updated versions of the products that I have purchased! I really appreaciate it!

  10. Chrystal says:

I was so excited to see this! Thank you for making the change. Too bad I have to re-purchase all the templates since I bought them through Jessica Sprague waaaaaaay back! :(

  11. deb jensen says:

I’ve downloaded some freebies from project life app for my phone, but I don’t see them when I look at the kits on my phone, they all end up in the photo section, is there someway to fix this?

  12. Rebecca Jones says:

Is this a change that will also be available for the app?
