keep up with Katie here

Katie Chiet

I was born on Long Island, NY and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida where we moved when I was about 8.  I lived in Gainesville for 8 years while attending the University of Florida (go Gators!), but moved home after graduation.  I can’t imagine living anywhere else!

My family now consists of my better half John and our 2 incredible boys Chase (4) and Ian (1).  I am the middle kid – my older sister and her family live down the road from me and my younger sister and her family live on the gulf coast of Florida.  I love that our 10 children are growing up together!  (My older brother just moved to Canada and my younger brother lives in the stars).  My mom and my in-laws live in town too – we are so lucky to live so close to much of our family!

The way I use Project Life is keeping a record of life’s adventures, big and small.  I do a combination of weekly life and event pages – sometimes I have a hard time picking just one picture so an everyday moment gets a whole page (or two!)   And I keep a ring of PL grid cards to capture “Chase-isms”!

To me, documenting life is one of the most important things I will ever do.  I have lost both my brother and my father in the last few years and with them, their stories – all I have left are pictures and my own memories of events.  I hope that my Project Life albums serve as a beautiful reminder of the life we share – both good times and hard times – and that my children will always remember where they came from, how very much they are loved, and how incredibly special our time together is to me.

Three things on my bucket list are:

1.     To run a half marathon in every state

2.     A cross country train (or RV) trip with my guys

3.     Take a Disney Cruise

Cultivating a good life means finding joy in the journey. Chase was born with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome and for a while, we sat on the sidelines watching friends do things with their children that we couldn’t do with him. We learned that our journey was going to be different, but not less. Little things are more joyful in our home because we know how hard fought they are!
