Pocket Scrapbooking with Project Life

Cultivate a good life and record it.

want to skype with me?

Hey guys! Happy Monday. So, I hear that today – Monday, June 30 – is Social Media Day. It’s an annual global event that recognizes the digital revolution happening right before our eyes.

Personally, I’m a fan of social media.

While there are plenty of awful things that happen with this modern technology, social media can and should be used – and is being used – as a powerful tool to CONNECT and SHARE and INSPIRE. I regularly and frequently use social media pretty much every single day for these very reasons. My goal in sharing on social media is to be an uplifting source of inspiration – same with my blog. Everything I put “out there” ties back to cultivating a good life and recording it – whether it be scrapbooking inspiration, organization tips, meaningful quotes, or personal anecdotes (and a hundred other things).

For those new to my brand / website / products, here’s where you can find me in the world of social media. NOTE: You’ll see daily activity from me on the first three. As for Pinterest and YouTube, you’ll be seeing more from us in the near future as we bump those up on the priority list.

Check out my short video message and then read below for the details.

We will select one of you to have a one-on-one Skype conversation with me!

Simply leave your first name + city + state / country in the Comments below this blog post. And … if you want, share one question that you’ll likely ask me when we have our live Skype chat. That’s not how we’ll choose someone. It really will be random. But it would be fun to see what kinds of questions you guys would ask me if we had a chance to talk in real life. You never know which of those topics will lead to a great blog post, right?!

We will announce the winner tomorrow morning – Tuesday, July 1, right here at the bottom of this post. So be sure to check back to find out if you’re the winner! Then I’ll be speaking with one of you face-to-face … in a virtual sense, of course.

Happy Social Media Day, friends. Stay in touch.

Added note:

Congratulations to Katie in Iowa City, Iowa! Please email Toni@beckyhiggins.com and she will get you in touch with Becky!

I’d love to know how you keep your personal stash of PL cards organized. Do they stay in their core kit boxes? Or do you have another way of storing them for easier use?

  2. Pat says:

Hi Becky – I need direction on where to start with my pictures. I have pictures from my parents and in laws who have died and some people in many pictures I have no idea who they are and it overwhelms me to try and get them organized and not know who the people are and I have no one to ask, sad but even worse to have them all stored away in boxes. Not only do I have lots of photos but negatives, should I try to look at all the negatives, throw them away, get them printed?? Hope my question is selected, I have been keeping this burden for years and it eats away at me when I see everything piled up.

    Thank you,

That would be so fun! I would like to know how you are loving AZ having not originally been from there! I’m from AZ (and now live in Northern VA, with family not far from Frederick, MD where you are from), but have come to really love and miss my original A-Z. Anyway, maybe I’d have a better question than that, but can’t think of others right now.

I have so many questions! I love love love the idea of PL but I can’t get started. I have grand plans in my head on what my PL will look like (awesome, by the way). ;-)

I have so so many photos (20,000+) on my computer. I have so so many pieces of memorabilia that I save. I’m overwhelmed by the amount of photos & stuff I have. I’m paralyzed by wanting it to be “perfect”. I don’t know where to start or how to start so I don’t start. I need a system/routine/process for getting started. Please help!

  39. Darcie says:

I have 7 children, all of whom I have done scrapbooks (Creative Memories type books) for during their lives. Most are grown and on their own, but because I have spent so much of my efforts doing books for them, my and my husbands scrapbooks – and any family scrapbooks I would like to do – have not even been started. I have digital photos, I have physical photos, I have photos and memorabilia EVERYWHERE! I would love to know where you would start with such a mess as this.

Since PL has taken the scrapbook industry by storm, there have been several systems developed in which people are using a adapted daily planner to plan out their pages and prints and print sizes. This all seems logical but also an additional number of steps to something that was supposed to simplify. I never planned out my traditional pages to that degree. I’d like to know if Becky utilizes any type of on going planning system to pre-organize PL pages and albums

How often do you plan on coming out with new kits? Is there a schedule…like one core kit then a mini kit, and then a theme kit…or whenever inspiration strikes? I know that you won’t likely come out with a Disney line due to copyright…BUT…i would certainly think that those of us who want that theme…will pay more for it to “share” the cost of getting that copyright, lol. A shot in the dark…but you just never know :)

  108. Becky, I would be OVER the moon excited to chat with you! I feel a HUGE connection with you! For so long I’ve wanted all of my friends and family (and lets face it … perfect strangers on the street) to scrapbook! I wanted them to scrapbook MORE than just that birthday party they had, or that wedding they went to…. when I accidentally found your Project Life Video on youtube… I cried. It was 3 in the morning, I had just had a my third baby a month or so before… and I scrapbooking and crying because I thought I CAN’T DO THIS any more, and I was feeling heart broken! You saved my scrapbooking life! And now I am NOT scrapbooking any more… I AM DOCUMENTING our life!!!! :)
I live in Plymouth, Ca for my beautiful family! I own my business and I am CAUGHT up with 3 children’s scrapbook and a family album I do EVERY year! Thank you for everything you do. You’ve inspired me in more ways than you could imagine!

Whether or not I get this opportunity I am hoping you would still be able to help me. My Girl Scout troop will be working on a family history project and I am trying to think of a way to make it the best it can be. They are daisies, brownies and juniors so they range in age from 5-12. What products would you recommend and how would you recommend organizing a book that they can share with their families? We’d like to include everything from interviews to maps, crests, pictures and any other memorabilia. Our goal is for the girls to learn about their families and preserve their history.

    TIA,

My question for you would be, “How do you keep from wanting to redo older layouts that you have done to make them more like your style today?”

My question would be about your organization…”How do you organize all of your PL cards, plastics, etc?” I just organized mine by color and I think I’m really going to like it, but I always like to hear ideas, especially yours! Alena – West Monroe, LA :)

what kind of CUNT makes people go through some type of screening process to “skype with you?” who the FUCK do you think YOU ARE to where you are soooo much more important that whoever the fuck looks at your blog. This article is fucking stupid and condescending and I cannot believe there are actually people in the comments that would still pander to your BS.

By the way, I ended up here because I was googling about a friend wanting to Skype with me. I’ve never used it before… webcams are so 1997 to me… so I was trying to figure out if this is a common thing people do or what.

I have NO IDEA who you are, but you need a fucking reality check, lady. These people here are on the same level you are, so have some fucking respect for the people (the FEW) that DO read your blog.
