special video from our creative team

This Saturday, May 4th, is National Scrapbooking Day!

I’ll be honest: In my nearly 20 years of being a part of this industry, I have no idea when this holiday was made up, or who started it, or if it’s supposed to be National Scrapbook (or Scrapbooking?) Day … or wouldn’t be International instead of just National? Oh, who knows? And really … it doesn’t matter! Right?  : )

This is what matters: A lot of us in this hobby – and in this industry – recognize the first Saturday in May as a holiday that we celebrate the hobby we LOVE! So in honor of National Scrapbooking Day we whipped up a little something special for you.

This video is a collection of favorite Project Life pages, photo tips, and organizational ideas from our very own 2013 Creative Team – who, as you may know, are scattered across the globe! The short video is missing just a few girls who were unable to participate because of various circumstances, but we love ALL of our Creative Team – and we think you’ll enjoy putting faces + names together … and being inspired by their tips.

So … tell me … are you doing anything special for Scrapbooking Day? Do you have any favorite Project Life tips or organizational ideas to share?

I loved all the ideas in this video!! I am new to project life items and bought 4 kits to get all my “stacked up” photos in order and caught up to now!! I am interested in knowing how the person who had the sayings printed onto her photos was able to do this? I also like the idea of making a picture or drawing over 2 or 3 spaces that you have kind of left over in a page!! Thank you for all these wonderful ideas!!

    • Hey Debbie!

I use http://www.photobucket.com to add text to my photos.

      you can also use
      http://pixlr.com/express/
if you dont want to create an account.

      Hope this helps!

I love doing this as well! You can do this a number of ways. I mostly use Photoshop Elements. I have purchased different digital elements from Designer Digitals to add words or designs to my pics. I like Ali Edwards and Cathy Zielske’s products from DD. I have also used PicMonkey, and that is free.

    • Debbie says:

Debbie, go to http://www.picmonkey.com to do it for free on the web as Juli stated above. You then download your creation back onto your computer to print it out. Another option is to download a free program called Picasa which is made by Google. I LOVE Picasa and use it as my main way to organize all my digital photos as well as share (via email or FB), print, upload and develop photos to online photo developers, and can also add text or make collages like you can with picmonkey. You can do basic edits in both PicMonkey and Picasa as well and may find you never need to purchase Photoshop or Elements.

I can’t believe it, but this video brought a little tear to my eye. It was SO great to see how *real* the CT ladies are. Such a variety of cultures, personalities, and fabulous, unique tips from all of them. Thanks so much everyone. You gals rock!

Thank you all for putting this together. I really LOVE Teresa’s contact sheet tip… that’s going to come in REALLY handy :)

    • tiffany h says:

Agree, the contact sheet is a fabulous idea!

    • Alison says:

Me too! How would you go about doing this?
I wish every core kit came with a contact sheet of every card design in the box so you could see the whole kits at a glance instead of searching for the perfect match by wading through every card. I often find one after my page is complete that I would have preferred if I’d seen it lol

    • Teresa says:

So happy you all like this idea! If you’d like some help/tips on making your own, please send me an email at Teresa.a.victor at gmail dot com and I’ll do my best to troubleshoot! :)

    • Debbie says:

When I get my PL kits, I sort all the cards out by design, then flip half of each stack of cards over to get the other side design. I kind of group them by color across my table, take a photo of that, print it out and tape it to the top of the box then put all the cards back in the box. I also write on an index card some of the phrases the cards have on them as well as designs I see over and over (arrows, chevrons, etc.) Not exactly a contact sheet but it helps me as I’m looking for something in particular.

    • Alison says:

I had this kind of thing in mind as a contact sheet…Is this what you mean?? I wish all core kits had this

Thank you Becky! I so enjoyed this video! When this year’s creative team members were first announced I immediately started following all of them on every social media outlet they were on and it has been so enjoyable to have them as guides and inspiration along the way for my first year of Project Life. Love having a voice to go with their faces, names and writing, especially Elyse, I check in on her blog daily and it was nice to hear her voice. Same thing with Ronnie :) And yeah, I’m with Paula, CAN’T BELIEVE I DIDN’T THINK OF THE DRAWER ORGANIZER! LOL Thanks to all involved, it’s all so much fun :)

  18. Jenny says:

I’m spending the next 2 days (Friday and Saturday) at our local store scrapbooking. (Which is even more exciting since I have 4 boys!) I’m using your Blush kit from HSN to put together my baby-high school pictures. They were in an album or box and were saved from the soot of a fire we had, but need to go into a new album. I can’t wait to get it done with such a beautiful pink kit! (Remember I have 4 boys and a husband!)
Thanks for all you do to make keeping our memories so simple.

I loved all of these tips, especially the get in front of the camera ones. I need to work on that one. Oh, and my 3 year old is going to get a how to work the camera lesson tomorrow….LOVED that idea!

  23. Laurie says:

Great video. It was fun to see all the designers. I loved Maggie’s tip about the drawer organizer. Maggie, is that available at a place like Target or did you get it at a speciality store? Thanks for sharing, everyone.

  24. Janel says:

The drawer organizer that Maggie had, looked like the best thing since sliced bread. Can she please tell us where she got it. Teresa’s contact sheet was brilliant. I think that will really help me coordinate my cards and keep track of my inventory (digital and printed).

    Thank you!!!!
