Scrapapalooza

untitled

This is so fun. Heather and her friends met up in Quincy, Washington recently and she shared the following email with us (which I am passing along – with permission, of course).

…..

Dear Becky,

My best girlfriends from college have been scrapbooking together for several years now. For the past 9 years, We’ve been going on an annual scrap retreat that we’ve termed Scrapapalooza. A few of us started the digital version of Project Life 4 years ago and over time, we have all converted to the paper version of Project Life. This year was the first year where everyone worked on Project Life albums. Because of your genius idea, we had the most relaxing, enjoyable scrapapalooza to date. My love for these gals and their friendship is beyond measure. Thank you for creating a product that enriches those friendships.

Fondly,

Heather Emans

Read more about Heather’s Project Life experiences on her blog. Kay, Jennafer, Victoria, Darbie, Kim, Shaliena, and Heather live all over Washington (Spokane, Snohomish, Seattle). Seriously, how cute are they?

How about you – Anyone else getting together with friends to work on scrapbooks? Feel free to share your thoughts or tips on organizing memory-keeping type of get-togethers.

I also just went on a Scrapbook weekend with friends. It was so fun and I got caught up on my Project Life album. I never in a million years dreamed I could be current in my albums but with Project Life it is so easy! Now to tackle the really old family photos. I also told many people about how Project Life will be on HSN soon so they will be watching!!

Interesting that you converted from digital to paper project life. I just ordered our first paper project life products and I’m thinking I might have to convert back. The entire just slip in and go is even easier than digital….never thought in a million years I would be able to be converted from digital back to paper…but even my kids have been helping…and I love that!

2 of my girlfriends and I just got back from a weekend too! We spent crop time in a store (usually we are in a “crop house” with people we kind of know) and were amazed at the conversations going on around us! We were all working on pre-PL years or special trips (Uganda and Croatia) that happened in the current year because we are all current with PL! We actually heard someone say, “What would be the fun in being caught up?!” We all looked at each other in horror. If we were caught up, we’d be lying on the beach with a drink with an umbrella and not sitting under these fluorescent lights with water and a lid! And we dreamed of the day. It will happen because of PL though! I think Lisa Bearnson said Spend more time creating the memory than preserving it. Amen! I documented an 11 day, amazing mission trip to Uganda in 1 1/2 days of solid crop time. This summer I’m taking it with me and have a dream of bringing a mini album home done! Thank you Becky!

I think what the ladies mean is if they get “caught up” they won’t have anything to scrapbook. A hobby they LOVE. Part of LIVING their life

Last fall I went on a retreat and completed an entire year AND 600+ photos of our son’s trip to London in his own separate album (he is adding the journalling).

I am headed to another retreat soon and will complete a past trip + another entire year of photos. All using Project Life.

    Crazy!

and I use to think getting 15-20 layouts done in a weekend was amazing.

Thank you Becky! I LOVE PROJECT LIFE!

Many of bestest peeps get together ALL the time to scrap. We go to fundraisers scrapbook events, we rent hotel gathering rooms to scrap (and pay for the room…lol) its ALL so worth it. AND a few of my friends and I get together at our homes and scrap. We all do project life and LOVE IT!!! I even got another friend of mine to purchase her first project life kit EVER, and she is loving it. She didn’t think she would have a picture everyday as she lives alone…I said OH yes, those birds you feed like your children, a snowy day, something yummy you baked the sky is the limit. She gets it now. We also have made a pact WE ARE DOING IT AND NOT GETTING BEHIND. And its working! I was so tickled to see this post because you always think do others do what we do AND yes they do. Thanks for sharing this post, truly enjoyed:)

    Way to go girls!

Me and two other girlfriends get together every Tuesday evening (and I do mean every Tuesday evening. We all feel horrible if we miss one!) and do our scrapbooking and chatting mainly at my house. It’s been awesome. Sometimes there’ll be snacks and wine, sometimes nothing. But we all look forward to it. And it’s part of the reason as to why I’m caught up on PL and completely done my daughter’s 1-year scrapbook. It just gives motivation! And I’m pretty sure I’ll be ordering a PL kit when the new physical ones come out. I have 6 trips to document with all the photos printed and waiting to be put into pockets!!

Two of my sisters and I started getting together every 1-2 months to scrapbook. Twice a year we attend a scrapbook/women’s retreat and love to get to spend those weekends with old and knew friends. Because those retreats are 6 months apart, we couldn’t wait that long. We have been enjoying it so much and have already planned the next two times to get together at one our homes. I just started using PL and divided page protectors and it saves so much time, but allows me to get more done with the limited time I have. So far I have completed 90 pages. I am thinking I could get 400 done this year. The most I have ever done in a year’s time before was 200.

I need a retreat weekend like that. Fun idea!

Ten of us are leaving tonight for ‘Scrapin Cabin’. We rent a cabin and go for a long weekend. Eat way too much yummy food and try to get a ton of work done. Or at least some, so our families think we actually were productive ;)
