Pocket Scrapbooking with Project Life

Cultivate a good life and record it.

Dec

30th

resolutions for the blog.

Just like many of you, I’ve spent some time reflecting on the past year and am looking forward to the next. I’ve thought about my work-life balance, my health, my family, my personal progression … you name it. I really value introspection and learning from the past and applying what I’ve learned to how I move forward – personally and professionally.

There is one very specific area of my life that I’ve thought a lot about, that directly affects you – my readers. I’m talking about my blog – this very spot right here! The reason I’ve spent a considerable amount of time thinking about my blog is because I have felt a lack of balance in my sharing lately.

The past year or two have been deeply challenging for me, for a myriad of reasons. Because of the obstacles I have faced, I found it quite difficult to do much of the blogging I wanted to do. I still poured my heart & soul into my sharing and I still blogged regularly (a lot, in fact!). But I have really felt a lack of balance in what I am sharing.

So here we are – about to embark on 2014. My team and I have been dreaming and scheming about what we want to do to shake things up around here. I’m so ready to infuse a breath of fresh air into the blog and on the website in general … and I think you’ll notice – in a good way!

What you can look forward to in 2014 >>>

  • Good Life. We are launching a brand new weekly series called “Good Life.” On Sundays I will focus on the part of my tagline that says “cultivate a good life.” This will be a dedicated place to share ideas on what it means to cultivate a good life – but you’re not just getting my limited perspective. I’m hand-picking people from all walks of life to inspire us. My hope is that you’ll be super inspired with this content to jump-start the beginning of each week.
  • At Home with Becky. There will be another new weekly series called “At Home with Becky.” On Wednesdays I’ll invite you into a different area of my little world (mostly at home) and share little ways that I “do things,” including some of my favorite recipes, organizational tips, housekeeping patterns, DIY ideas, favorite products … you name it. Most of this will have nothing to do with scrapbooking. It’s just me, in my home, doing what I do, however I do it.
  • Beautiful imagery. For the first time ever in the history of ever, I have an actual in-house photographer on staff who will be taking most of the pictures. Historically, I’ve taken on that role myself so hallelujah for Kara and better story-telling with stronger photography.
  • Project Life. I will continue sharing when we have new products and announcements and inspiration that I think will really benefit others. I always have plenty of Project Life content to share (naturally) – but I’ll be sure that we remain well balanced with other interesting subjects.

One last word about all of this: We are really excited about our plans, and I am personally so grateful to have a little but robust team of talented people that will be instrumental in the execution of so many ideas. I spend a significant amount of time preparing and sharing new blog content on a frequent basis, but I do not monetize my blog. I have no sponsors to please; just a desire to provide inspiring content.

Please know that I fully expect bumps in the road. My schedule will get knocked off track from time to time because I’m a real person with real challenges and a lot that I’m juggling in life. So I appreciate you being patient as I continue to evolve. I know many of you have been loyal readers for many years. Thank you for stopping in. I am humbled that you make me a part of your routine, and I take that very seriously. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. I have the sincerest desire to uplift, inspire, and motivate you in your quest to cultivate a good life and record it.

Here’s to many exciting things to come in 2014.

Thanks so much and I’m really looking forward to the new blog posts in 2014:-) Also, this is totally of topic, but the other day someone posted some pics in a forum of new product at Michael’s. It was a display of BH project life planner pages and recipie cards as well as 2 full core kits from Maggie Holmes and Dear Lizzy. I couldn’t find anything on the blog about this and I don’t remember you making any announcements about it on social media. Is this something I missed and is it exclusive to Michael’s????

  6. Clpalmat says:

Can’t wait! I hope you bring back your recipe section! You had a few of my “go to” recipes and although I remember most of it, I miss not having that back up “memory” to look at! :)

Becky, I have been a fan of yours forever and look forward to your new blog endeavors! :-) Your Project Life has changed my life, and has helped our family grow stronger together as we capture our daily life together now (instead of just Mommy taking photos all the time haha). Happy New Year to you and your entire family and staff. :-)

  17. I am really excited for this Becky. I think what you are mentioning really captures your class Project Real Life and is a great way to extend what you do/did in the class. That will be great for those who have already taken the course and for those who are going to take it again this year. Thanks for giving us a preview of what to expect.

  18. Jennifer Monroe says:

Hello Becky! Italy is here!! :-) I’ve waited 5 years to bé able to buy my very first Project Life album and now I can find It in the only scrapbooking shop in my city and that’s AMAZING! :-) I’ve gathered memorabilia of my honeymoon trip to USA in 2012 til today just to be able to eventually buy one day my PL album and now that it has become reality it has completely changed the way I approach to scrapbooking: it’s RELAXING + EASY + MOST IMPORTANT MEMORIES/PHOTOS CENTERED+ above all of that DOABLE!! I can have instant gratification by how fast it goes once you start..you only add few stickers, washi or other little things and your journaling and you’re done!! sorry if this comment turned out so endless but I’ve been following your blog and your business since the beginning but never got the chance to comment so just wanted to share my love and appreciation!!! Thanks so much to you Becky and your team for gifting all of us with PL!! Love, Vanessa from Italy

  22. Jenny B. says:

I’m excited to see all the new things in store for 2014! :)

  23. Melissa says:

SOUNDS AWESOME!! One of my SB friends stopped coming here because she felt like the blog had completely turned into a Project Life infomercial. TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE, but it wasn’t her thing. I will point her to this post and maybe she’ll come back ’round. ;)

    • Ali says:

For exactly the same reasons as your friend I too stopped coming here on a regular basis and also stopped reading the Facebook posts by Becky. For me the whole point of PL is to simplify and I felt that goal had been lost from sight with all the new product launches. I felt that PL was about to get as “consumption crazy” as previous scrapbook products and ranges. (with a small family there are only so many kits you can use realistically!). However, for some reason today I READ the Facebook post about this blog post and decided to swing by and see what was new. I am so glad that I did and can see that I will be coming back to the blog more regularly. Thanks Becky.

    • Susan says:

I first new you because of your interesting blog. Since Project Life was born I too felt that the blog suffered due to overload of trying to sell your project. I do not read your blog much now as I am up to date with Project Life stuff. I want to see the old Becky back with pics of your everyday life. It was fun.. If you promise to bring some of the old Becky back then I will make the effort to see you each morning with my coffee in hand.

Hi Becky: I wish you have made pages that would fit my old pictures. They were made smaller than the picture are now. I don’t won’t to cut my old picture to fit in. I will try it in a different project.

  68. Andrea scoville says:

Becky, I have been catching up on your blog and I want you to know that I think you are doing a beautiful job with your blog. I find it a peaceful and inspiring place to hand out while I eat breakfast or drink my morning tea. Thank you for constantly showing us your grace and creativity it is a true joy and I really appreciate it.

  69. You completed a number of nice points there. I did a search on the subject and found nearly all folks will agree with your blog.

  70. I am no longer certain where you are getting your information, but good topic. I must spend a while studying more or figuring out more. Thanks for excellent info I used to be looking for this information for my mission.

  71. I have been browsing online greater than three hours today, but I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It’s lovely price enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will probably be a lot more helpful than ever before.
