Pocket Scrapbooking with Project Life

recipe pages using the app

If you’re following my social media, you’ll notice that I’m using the Project Life App to create recipe pages for my own personal use. For me, this is such a quick and easy (and fun!) way to preserve our favorite tried & true recipes. You can see all of these together by searching #BHRecipes on Instagram or Facebook. We’ll also be bringing them here to the website when we add our Freebies section back (Yes! It’s coming back!).

So what do I do with these pages when I create them? Print them, of course! I’m loving the 8×8 size so much, and that’s the size I’m printing from the app the most. You heard that our print feature is now live, right? That means you can create pages in the app AND order those prints right there in the app as well … if you’re a fan of convenience & quality. Just as exciting… our 8×8 products are expected to arrive in March! So I’ll be slipping those 8×8 pages into 8×8 page protectors that go in an 8×8 album. And because the pages are digital files, I can also print a bunch in a little photo book (eventually this is another feature coming to the app) to give as a gift and also for our kids to have a copy of some family favorites. There are so many possibilities!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, here’s one of my favorite go-to treats that you might remember from an earlier post. Feel free to click on the image to access the full-size page that you can then right-click, save, and print for your own personal use!

    I love this idea!

I have one question about printing from the app. Is it part of any future plans to be able to print digital books from the app? Via Shutterfly or something similar?

Thank you for all you do, Becky!

Hi Vanessa! Yes, as Becky mentioned in her post, the ability to print to a photo book is a feature that will be coming to the app in the future. We are so excited about that! ~ Toni at Becky Higgins LLC

I can’t wait until this is available on Android!! I use a couple different scrapbook apps but this looks so simple and I love the Cards that you can insert instead of having every spot filled with pictures!

will you be able to ship printed photos to australia soon

I noticed when I saved the recipe page that it’s 1024 ppi by 1023 ppi. Even at a minimum of 200 ppi for high quality prints, this would only print at 5×5, not 8×8.

I think the image is supposed to be liked to a large size that we can right click and save but it isn’t.

  8. Mimi says:

When using the App can you print your completed pages to your own printer or must you order them through Project life?

  9. Heidi says:

I love, love, love this idea. Please consider making a set of food project five cards. How cute would that be for a recipe album.

if i save on the app an 8×8 layout, and print from the app, will it indeed be 8×8 or do i have to worry about a certain dpi?
will there be or is there a video tutorial showing how to use the app/photo editing? i must have missed something with photo editing or do i do that before selecting image for my layout?

i apologize for all the questions, but just starting my little adventure with the app.

Will there be recipe themed kits coming soon? Just bought the recipe pages kit and I thought some printed project life recipe themed pages would be a great addition.

I have been making these for several years at Thanksgiving for pre-dinner snacking. Guess where I got the recipe? From YOU! Thanks so much, Becky. My boys have recently taken over the honor of making these little treats!

Thank you for opening a new idea into my head! I saw your first recipe entry on IG and thought, that’s ingenious! I have recipe cards, card box, blah, blah, blah and they drive me nuts! So old fashioned (okay, I like old fashioned but…) and outdated.
The reason I’m adding an entry today is to tell you that because of your recipes on IG, I have started a series of my own. I’m using tried and true generational recipes and newer ones that we use everyday. I have even done very simple recipes (how to boil an egg, homemade syrup – cause that’s what we use at home) as well.
The point of all this is that I’m building a recipe book(s) for my boys! When they are getting ready to move out (first one will be eligible in 4 years), I plan to print what I have into a book and send it with them. Then they will have everything they need (great-great grandma’s homemade rolls too) to survive food-wise.
    So thank you!
I love that Becky created PL and that Devin created the app. Major thumbs up and ((((hugs)))) to both of you (and Becky’s team!).

Please Please Please add a kit on the App that is for cooking! I’m making recipe books for all my kids & am having the hardest time finding cards that look good with it!

  19. Shelley says:

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous posters. PLEASE, PLEASE add a kit to the in a recipe keeping theme. A kit with MANY journal cards would be appreciated! Also, enabling text to be printed over the ENTIRE CARD. Currently, text is not allowed over any design portion on a journal card.

I would like to use the app to make a recipe book for my son for when he goes to college. What is the best card set to use with the app? Like others who have posted, it would be so wonderful to have a card set specifically designed for a recipe book! Any other recipe book tips would be greatly appreciated since I have not used the app before. Thank you!!

I’m new to Project Life and wondering if I can make 8×8 scrapbook pages using the digital version on the desktop? I am wanting to make a recipe book but would rather make the pages on the digital vs. the app. Is that possible?
