ordering prints from the app!

Oh, app friends. We’re just as excited as you are! As of today, you can order prints directly from the Project Life App! Hopefully you caught our recent video that actually shows how the app works. You know how ridiculously simple it is. “Game changer” is the term we keep hearing. In fact, “life changing” is another one we hear from customers over and over. And we’re delighted you feel that way! I feel that way, too! Seriously, the app is what’s helping me get back on track this year and I’m absolutely loving it. Personally, I’m doing Project 52 on the app and … oh man. I’ll share more about that in another post soon!

So back to the print function… It’s live! Try it! Use it! Love it! How does it work? You whip up pages / collages in the Project Life App. Once you’ve added the new update to your app, you’ll see “order prints” now on the home screen. Tap there and the rest is so easy, so natural, so intuitive, you’ll get it. As always, we’re happy to help if you have questions or run into a snag. Just send us an email from the app (tap on the green “i” on the home screen and “report an issue”). My team is very responsive and super happy to help! We’ll take care of you. Place your order and we’ll ship you the prints! Easy-breezy.

There are (4) sizes that we can print from the app: 4×6, 6×8, 8×8, 12×12. Those are the template sizes we have built into the app. Just to give you an idea, here’s a page that was printed in two sizes. The same page as an 8×8 and a 12×12.

BH_AppPrintSamples_100914_03

Our print quality? Impeccable. Customer service? Top notch. Cost? Super reasonable. A 12×12 print is $1.99. An 8×8 print is $0.99. A 6×8 print is also $0.99. And a 4×6 print is $0.29. Have other questions about the print feature? When you go to the “Order Prints” part of the app, you’ll see “Printing FAQs” right there. Please take a moment to check that out.

Oh, hey! Guess what else? While you’re getting that update for the print feature, guess what else we’ve added? Four more collections!

Aaaaaand… we’ve heard your request for blank journaling cards with no designs. Your wish is granted. And it’s free with this latest update! Choose from tan, white, grey, or cream. No matter what other designer Project Life cards you’re using, one of these will be the perfect neutral that complements your cards – or your photos for that matter!

As always, stay up to date with inspiration and sample Project Life app sharing on my social media. We’re always sharing good stuff. Even a quick search for #ProjectLifeApp on Instagram will give you oodles of sample pages. The most important thing as a new app customer is for you to simply play around with the functions and features so you can see just how easy it is.

One more note: we have added this feature for your convenience. In no way are you obligated to use our print feature. I highly encourage you to try it out. I think you’ll be impressed with the ease of use and convenience and print quality and the way we carefully package your prints. That said, you are more than welcome to continue using your favorite printer if you wish to do that. Just export your finished pages from the app and upload as you normally would.

Just kidding. One more last note: For those of you who are hoping and waiting for an Android version of the app, be sure you check out our latest update if you’ve missed that.

Simply AMAZING!!!!!!! Thank you for making this available. I truly appreciate the convenience this brings to my record keeping. I didn’t think it could get any easier!!

  2. Aussie Mum says:

Becky, you work so hard for all of us……Thank you!!! Just a question for you. I was wondering, will there be a cost effective way to order prints in places outside the US? I have looked at printing here in Australia and it’s unfortunately pretty expensive, ($8 per 12×12 print at Big W). Does anyone have suggestions, i would love to hear. One last thing. I noticed you will be talking about family history at an upcoming conference… I have purchased the heritage core kit but stuck and don’t know how to start this project ( feeling a little overwhelmed if I’m honest ). Do you have any plans for something like an online class that could help to get us started??

    • JodieR says:

Persnickety Prints. Similar pricing to the app, $10 flat rate shipping! Fantastic quality.

    • Amy says:

I just had some project life app pages printed through Hydro Photographics in Australia. A 12×12 page is $1.99, I think postage was $15, so if you print a bunch at a time it’s pretty reasonable. I was very happy with their quality, give them a go!

  3. Valerina2 says:

Your app just keeps getting better and better. The printing option is amazing. I just read the comment from Aussie Mum posted on 28/1/15 and I second her comments as I’m also from Australia. Is there an A4 layout option that we could print to our home printers?

  4. Kimberly says:

So excited about this update…I grabbed the love and wedding kits! I’m this much closer to finally creating my wedding album. Maybe I’ll set a goal to have it completed before our 2 year anniversary this summer? Now, what to do with the physical set I purchased? I’ll figure it out eventually.

  5. Lynn Dirk says:

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! Made my day!

  6. Michelle Craig says:

Thank you for making it a painless process to create albums for our families! I told a friend at carpool about the app yesterday and today she completed 2 pages using the app!!

I have a wish. That down the road you can publish the completed pages into a bound album. I do not know if that would compete with Shutterfly or if we could upload it there. But I LOVE the size of the completed and bound digital albums. I can fit more on a shelf :)

    Thanks again!

  7. Vickie says:

I haven’t tried it yet but can I add one page at a time until I’m ready to order? Or do I need to be ready to order when I send them to Persnickety?

  8. JodieR says:

How much for shipping? Will you ship prints internationally? Oh wait, I’m on android, I don’t count…

    • Amanda says:

Did you read her update about Android? In no way does she say you “don’t count”. I’m a small business owner myself and completely understand where BH is coming from. Things take time and are expensive. Furthermore, it’s not her fault you have an Android, there is no need to be childish in comments. You could pick up an iPod if you really wanted to use the app, no contracts involved in that like a phone. So again, there are options (yeah, they cost money, but many Android users have no problem expecting BH to invest more money into Android than iPhone- double standard, eh?), and it’s not her fault that consumers choose different products!! If as a consumer, you really wanted the app, it could be achieved.

  9. Julee I says:

So excited about this! Can anyone tell me where to find out more about the paper these will be printed on? I’ve looked at the FAQ and don’t see anything.

  10. Mindy says:

Absolutely thrilled with the new neutral cards!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Also looking forward to trying out the printing. Your team has been extremely busy with all of this new goodness.

  11. Lorrie says:

i am in love with this whole app and print I am in heaven and love love love someone GETS IT. Life is so fast and furious and this app makes it so easy to scrap fast and furious too! Happiness!

  12. Lisamarie says:

Did I miss a bit about shipping? Do you ship these wonderful pages and good print prices to Canada yet?

  13. iSSa says:

How much is international shipping? I don’t see it in the blog post :( Or is it there? Haha!

  14. Rae Finke says:

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! I am soooo excited! I am updating now!!! Thank you!

  15. price halford says:

If you could just have the PL app sync between devices, this would be the best app ever. I hope you are working on this!!!

  16. Barb Snyder says:

Who is the actual developer of the photos? I’m sorry if I missed it somewhere, but I didn’t see it. Thanks!

  17. Cicely says:

    Dear Becky:

I am a huge fan of Project Life. It has made me fall in love with scrapbooking again. I do have a concern. I do not see enough diversity on your blog or your Facebook photo. We live in a culturally diverse world, and your pages do not demonstrate that. I would like to know why I do not see more African Americans featured on your Facebook page. We purchase your products, yet we are not featured? I have posted several of my pages, and I have yet to receive a comment about them. The pages are just as good as those created by my white peers. Yes, you have Asians on your design team. Yet, they are not African American.

My friends are extremely disturbed by this matter. Amongst ourselves, we have discussed how it appears as if only “White women’s” work is good enough to be celebrated on your websites. Although this may not be how you feel, this is the message that you are sending.

    • Christine says:

      Cicely-
My reply is in no way affiliated with Becky Higgins or Project Life. I’m simply curious. I’m a married middle class white female who lives in the Midwest, so I have no experience with what you have experienced. I’ve been going to scrapping events for about 18 years now. I have noted before the lack of diversity in general across the scrapping industry in pages/projects/etc shared in magazines and blogs. I’ve also noted no African American women at the large crops I attend. Here is my curiosity, and I hope there is no offense as none is intended. Is scrapping popular in the African American community? I get if there are not a lot of culturally diverse or specific products as that will always be profit driven but do wonder about beyond the products. Do you and your friends attend crops that are mostly African American women? Would you or maybe have you gone to a random large crop? If so, we’re you a significant minority? Was that an obvious issue for you or the other croppers? I guess I’m just hoping your observation is a product of numbers (significantly fewer African Americans scrapping) and not of a conscious choice to exclude. I’d be interested to hear more on your experiences/observations with the industry as a whole and your thoughts. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  18. Bern says:

Hi Becky, I love love love the app! Thank you for your hard work. And kudos to your team, too! May I suggest a text box option so we can also write of top of the photos? And a freehand tool would be awesome too! Thanks so much!

    • AJ says:

Just seconding everything Bern said–would LOVE to write on top of photos. That missing feature is the only thing between me and digital. The app is wonderful and efficient!

  19. Christine says:

I hope this comment gets noticed by Becky Higgins LLC/Project Life and by other users because what is written in the Terms Of Agreement that you have to sign/agree to is a disturbing trend among companies that handle images.

I’m writing this because I’m seriously concerned about 2 clauses in your Terms of Agreements. For users reading this. They basically want you to sign over your rights to Project Life if you want to use the option to print.. Please read these clauses carefully.

The clause D and E I find particularly troubling and wonder why it is necessary to put these in this way. No other print company that I have used in the past has asked me to sign over my rights of use or asked me to sign an agreement at all.

I myself will not sign these agreements, nor do I agree agree with them. I will not sign over my rights to Becky Higgins/Project Life to use, publish, reprint, modify and distribute etc my artwork. Neither do I want other users to reproduce my artwork especially not after I deleted my account.
For those of you who you not have an idea what I’m talking about because most of the time we skip reading these Terms of Agreements and click agree, these are the 2 clauses I have a problem with.
    —————————————–
    D. How Becky Higgins/Project Life and other users can use your content
You grant Becky Higgins/Project Life and its users a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide license to use, store, display, reproduce, re-pin, modify, create derivative works, perform, and distribute your User Content on Becky Higgins/Project Life solely for the purposes of operating, developing, providing, and using the Becky Higgins/Project Life Products. Nothing in these Terms shall restrict other legal rights Becky Higgins/Project Life may have to User Content, for example under other licenses. We reserve the right to remove or modify User Content for any reason, including User Content that we believe violates these Terms or our policies.

    e. How long we keep your content
Following termination or deactivation of your account, or if you remove any User Content from Becky Higgins/Project Life, we may retain your User Content for a commercially reasonable period of time for backup, archival, or audit purposes. Furthermore, Becky Higgins/Project Life and its users may retain and continue to use, store, display, reproduce, re-pin, modify, create derivative works, perform, and distribute any of your User Content that other users have stored or shared through Becky Higgins/Project Life.

There was HUGE outcry when Instagram announced they could and would use your photos in commercials or ads and Facebook followed suit. To see the same clause in your Terms of agreement and even more than Instagram’s is shocking to me. I do wonder why these 2 clauses are put into place.
No disrespect meant but if not signing this agreement means I can not print or even use the Project Life app, than so be it. I hope that you will reconsider and make changes in the Terms of Agreement.

I urge everyone to read these carefully before you click ‘Agree’ and think of the implications.
    .
I do hope we can start a dialog about the necessity of these clauses and I’m curious to hear what the reason is for these drastic clauses. I will also blog about this to make more people aware about this, I really do think this is NOT okay.

    • Kim says:

I agree with Christine’s concern about Clauses D & E in the Terms of Agreement. I have been a customer since the beginning and love the app. I was quite excited to see we could now get our pages printed. . . that is until I read the agreement, which basically says I’m signing over my rights (publish, reprint, modify my pages) to Project Life. I will be deleting the app and will think twice before making another purchase from BH/PL. I’m so disappointed.

    • Christine says:

i submitted my comment and question to costumer service and again asked for and answer. I see Becky all cheery on Instagram showing off prints and encouraging users to use the print service. Users that have no clue they sign away the rights to their art work or images.

I again hope to get an answer, I’m not going away because I’m being ignored, I want an answer to my questions, this issue is too serious to ignore.
I use a lot of my own design in the PL app or designs from other designers, I’m pretty sure they are not going to be happy about me singing over the rights to their designs to BeckyHiggins/Project Life and see that work( mine with their designs) in ads, marketing or being used by other users.

    • Toni Chase Toni Chase says:

Hi Christine! We’re sorry for the concern that our Terms of Use seem to have caused. Rest assured, it certainly wasn’t our intention for anyone to worry about how or where we might use the pages that they are creating in the Project Life App, but putting documents like this in place is essential for businesses to protect themselves from potential issues or situations that may arise. While legal language is often difficult to understand, the intent of this clause is not to cause alarm, but to let customers know that if they choose to share their work that we may potentially use that in our own social media or marketing efforts. As far as pages that you upload for printing, our app developer has assured us that those uploaded layouts are and will remain private. The only way that we can see or use your images is if you choose to share them yourself – particularly if you use the pre-generated hashtag #projectlifeapp.

We appreciate you taking the time to read through our terms before establishing your account and for sharing your concerns with us. We really do listen and are grateful when customers chime in so that we can respond to the feedback, clarify when we’re able to, and make adjustments where needed. Please rest assured knowing that we take privacy very seriously and in no way intend to exploit or take advantage of those customers who place their trust in us by using our app.

  20. Rachel says:

When are you going to make this available on android. There’s a lot of people who are missing out. Please put it on android.

  21. shelly says:

OK – but can we order protective sleeves to go with?? Otherwise won’t work in the album…

  22. Trish says:

Thank you Becky! The print option is fabulous. I ordered my prints on Jan. 29th, received them on Feb. 1. Now, I am not a great photographer in any sense of the word. I know nothing about lighting and am not into color coordinating clothes with surroundings or posing my “models”. I just like to take pictures of my family in the midst of living each day. I think you made my photos look ten times better! I am so happy with the 12 x 12’s and 4 x 6’s I ordered. My family was quite impressed, too. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  23. Marni says:

Can’t find info on the actual printer of the pages from the app. Is it Persnickety?

  24. Suzi says:

I ordered a boatload of prints on Jan. 29th. They arrived today! And they are stunning! Thank you so much for adding this option to the app! Now I need to get busy creating more pages!

  25. Kim says:

Is it possible to order prints the same size as the pockets? … I would love to order a bunch of prints THROUGH Project LIfe FOR Project Life…?

    • Toni says:

You could do that by uploading your photos to the template area of the app. Upload and print as 4×6 prints. Hope this helps! ~ Toni at Becky Higgins LLC

    • Kim says:

But then they need to be cut to fit into the pocket pages don’t they?

    • Andrea says:

It would be great to have a 12×12 full page template added so we can print full pages as well through the app.

  26. Marni says:

Can anyone say who the printer is if ordering through the app?

    • Toni Chase Toni Chase says:

Hi Marni! We are using White House Custom Color and they are fantastic! ~ Toni at Becky Higgins LLC

  27. Natalie Turetsky says:

Just wondering why the pictures on the site come out ELONGATED. I can’t get a good look at how the 8×8 and 12×12 pages print – all the photos on this site are coming out really long and stretched out. Anyway, I would love to use the app to document my whole year but my concern is how the print quality would be in printing a bound book at the end…and secondly what is the best way to back up my work as I go along? Export to Library and then download to iMac?

  28. Priscilla says:

I am in the minority and have neither Apple products nor Android products. Completely drooling over what I see with the app. Wondering if you wonderful folks will put development of Project Life app for Windows products…..?!

  29. S says:

Love the app!!!! Thank you for all your creativity and hard work!!!! Made some 12×12 pages and now ready to print but not sure how to go about being able to send over more than one page at a time to not have to pay the $5.00 shipping per page. Can you help me? Also I remember reading somewhere that the pages were waterproof but that I think was with Persnickety is it the same with White House? Thank you again.

    Printing in New Zealand??
I have only just downloaded the project life app in the last week and am amazed at how simple it is! Can’t wait to really get started but need to find out about printing first. I’ve seen a few comments about printing in Australia but I’m in New Zealand. Can anyone offer me any advice about best place/price for printing 12×12 pages in NZ please. Must be some keen Project life app ladies here that are already sorted and printing but I can’t find the links.
    Help appreciated, many thanks.

  31. Ella says:

    Hi
I am also in New Zealand and would love to order 12×12 pages from the project life app.
    Many thanks

  32. Aja says:

Yup I’m from NZ too – so has anyone found a decent printing company yet? Just by browsing I saw harvey norman print 8×8 but it’s $4 each and it adds up if you’re trigger happy like me! I’m trying to find an 8×8 photobook that will come out better in price…

    • Danielle says:

Am also from NZ, any recommendations for printing companies here? I see Warehouse Stationery does 12×12 at 7 dollars per page which is quite pricey. Also unsure of quality.

  33. Deborah says:

Hi I’m also from NZ and have just started using the Android project life app.
I have friends and family who are interested in using this also, but want to know if there is anywhere in NZ to print that’s not to expensive. Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  34. Christen says:

I was so excited when I realised you can order prints in the app, however I was shocked and completely devastated to find that it cost almost $50 to ship to the UK :(

  35. Giulia says:

    Hello!
I’ve just started to use the app on Android and I think it’s amazing.
I’m having troubles with the printing though, because my printer doesn’t support the 12×12 format and the 8by8 is a bit small. I live in Italy where the print format is usually A4.
Is there any chance there’ll be also A4 designs in the future? It’s the most common print format in Europe and it would allow so many people to print their pages at home.
    Thanks

  36. Naureen Raja-Shafiq says:

Very excited to discover the PL app for android. Can the completed pages be exported to websites like Shutterfly.com to make photo books using the completed PL app pages?
    Thanks
