Pocket Scrapbooking with Project Life

Cultivate a good life and record it.

mini album inspiration: pets

Jennifer in Illinois shared with us what she did with the Cinnamon Mini Album (20% off thru April 5) + the Wellington Mini Kit. Keep in mind that the Wellington Edition was designed to be a “Childhood Mini Kit” – and you’ll see inspiration for that childhood theme soon – but there’s still enough flexibility on many of the cards, so I’m really thrilled to see what she has done. Jennifer wanted to do this for her husband’s birthday.

In Jennifer’s own words …

Our dog (really his dog) Maggie passed away in February and I had long been planning to do a photo book to celebrate her life. Shortly after her passing my husband started asking me questions about scrapbooking and said he was thinking about doing a scrapbook for her.

I immediately thought that Project Life would be the perfect solution and far better than a photo book. I printed 78 photos and assembled the album with the Wellington cards for him, so it’s all ready for his stories of Maggie. There were only a few cards in the Wellington kit that were too “themed’ to use, so it was the perfect design and kit size for this project. Even though it is bittersweet, I am so excited to share this homemade gift with him and my stepsons.

Ok, that is BRILLIANT. What a great use of one of the Childhood kits! And a sweet way to remember a special friend.

This is such a SWEET idea! I know a lot of people LOVE their animals, and what could be better than making their own little book about them! Love this!

I am very touched your husband wants to participate in this project for your beautiful dog. I recently did a tribute album for my girlfriend when they lost their dog. The scrapbooks are important to record the special history. Congrats and I’m very sorry for your loss.

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks Kathryn. There are still so many little reminders of her. The biggest one is that I have to actually pick up the food my 19 month old daughter throws on the floor!

  4. Jennifer says:

Thanks for featuring my album! Today is my husband’s birthday and I can’t wait to share this post with him as well.

AW! This made me teary-eyed! What a great use of the mini-albums and it’s is beautifully done.

Oh, this makes me weepy :( Love that he wanted to make a book. We have 2 old dogs so I’m especially sensitive since they were our first babies.

This is precisely why I ordered the autoship mini’s on HSN the other day. These look perfect for pet themed albums. I cannot wait to get one! It also never occurred to me to use the childhood mini kit…however, I have thought you needed a pet mini kit! (hint hint!)

This was such a good idea! We lost our Rottie 2 1/2 years ago, but it still feels like it was last week. It was especially hard for our girls (now 6 and 9) and I think this would be a great project for the 3 of us to put together. I may even do one about our other 2 dogs.

  9. Such a wonderful tribute to a special furry member of the family! Jennifer you rock.

This brings tears to my eyes. I think I may have to do one of these for my precious cat that passed away suddenly a few years ago. Thank you so very much for the amazing inspiration. You’ve created a wonderful project here! Thank you for sharing! And I can’t believe how perfect the Wellington kit was!!! So great!

This is so sweet! I love that the album is set up for Jennifer’s husband to share his stories of Maggie. When I scrolled down to the photos, I expected there to be journaling completed by Jennifer, but it’s even better that he gets to do that part of the project! I love it!

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks Kim. There’s no way I could do justice to the story from my own perspective, but there’s also no way he could do a more traditional album. As Becky has shown us, Project Life is a way to bring everyone else into memory keeping in an easy way!

  12. Jennie says:

Thanks so much for sharing this Becky, and thank you for the inspiration Jennifer. We lost our sweet girl August in October of last year and I have been wanting to make an album of her life. Doing a mini album will be perfect. Can’t wait to get started!

This is such a sweet gesture for your husband! I love that you left it blank for him to do the journalling! Sorry to hear that you lost your dog though. She looks really beautiful in the photos

Thank you for the inspiration! I really want to do pet books but now that we had to put our oldest doxie down in February, there are so many projects I want to work on, this being one of them. It is devastating to have to put our pets to sleep- a great way to honor their life.

This is so touching and sweet it brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful dog and the album looks amazing. So sorry for you and your husband’s loss. I think this is a fantastic way to use the mini album and a what wonderful gift for your husband. I did a lot of writing after my dog passed and it was cathartic. I can now use my thoughts in journaling as you’ve inspired me to do a mini album for my dog that passed away 16 months ago (and miss every single day even though I have 2 other dogs). She was my once in a lifetime dog. Thank you for the inspiration!

    • Jennifer says:

Thanks Debbie. Having all that journaling will make this album super easy to assemble. I hope the process is healing for you.

What a great tribute to a beautiful dog. When I saw the mini kits that came auto ship with the Project Life HSN kits, I hoped that Pet Themed albums would work great in them. Thanks for the inspiration!

  18. Jennifer, this is absolutely phenomenal! I am so thrilled with my first purchase of Project Life products recently and was not yet ready to think of what I wanted to do with a mini should I get one.

Happy belated Birthday to your hubby and my condolences on the recent loss of your (his) sweet girl, Maggie. Y’all have inspired me to do a mini for our beloved Golden Girl, Chloe whom we lost a year-and-a-half ago. I was not quite sure how I wanted to preserve the 13+ years we were blessed to have her as a part of our family.

Leaving blank journal cards for your husband’s personal memories of Maggie rocks! This idea will work wonderfully for the entire family to journal their fondest memories of our precious furbabe whenever they come to visit or vice-versa!

  19. Kathy says:

Will there be pet kits coming. I am a pet parent and companies seem to forget not all of us can have kids. Just hoping.
    Thank you Becky.
