introducing Project 52!
Pretty exciting stuff, friends. It’s always so fun to announce new products, and I know some of you are ready just to get shopping, but first — may I share a quick story with you?
Once upon a time (in 2008) I embarked on a personal journey called Project 365. My goal was that instead of documenting just big events and occasions and trips, I would focus more on the everyday stuff of life. I set aside traditional scrapbooking and instead featured one picture from each day in a photo album.
This became, for me, an incredibly successful and rewarding memory-keeping experience. I felt like I had never documented our family’s day-to-day story better. I believed so much in what I was doing that it became an actual, physical product. Project 365 was a scrapbooking kit that would become the way that thousands of families documented their story that following year.
This product evolved into a full-blown company, and I’ve been running that business for the past 5+ years with the same passion I had when we started it. And speaking of running a company, it sort of takes a lot to do that. Physically, financially, emotionally… So my personal scrapbooking in the past few years has taken a little bit of a hit. This hasn’t been totally discouraging to me because Project Life® makes is so, so, so easy to catch up when I’m able to do some scrapbooking a couple times a year. And that’s great.
But you know what I miss? I miss scrapbooking along the way. Don’t get me wrong; I love a good “catch-up session” now and again, and it truly is so liberating to get so much done in such a short period of time. But the documentation of the day-to-day as it’s happening? There’s just something about it that I love (and miss) so much.
So that’s why I wanted to develop a product that was specifically designed to help me – and you – document a year’s worth of stories and memories and mundane moments – one week at a time.
Enter Project 52
The concept is simple. And many of you have already been documenting life this way. I’ve done it myself a few years in the past. Now as we face a brand new year, I have a personal and deep resolve to be back on track with awesome, everyday documenting of our happenings and adventures and little moments in between.
We asked one of our favorite designers – Kimberly Church – to design a Project Life edition that is specific to this concept of documenting life week by week by week and all 52 weeks of the year. One layout per week and occasionally an extra layout as needed. That’s it. Simple as simple can be. Project 52 has a gorgeously happy color palette and the coolest designs. Kimberly did an awesome job, and I’m honored to use this collection for my main ongoing scrapbooking project in 2015!
Project 52 Options
I hope many of you will join me in documenting life week-to-week in 2015! Certainly we’ve provided a lot of Project Life collections for you to document life however it best suites your personal style. Should you choose the Project 52 collection, you have a few options:
PHYSICAL VERSION. There is one place + one place only that you can find the physical, tangible version of Project 52, and that is in our online shop. This is not available in other stores – anywhere. The physical offering of Project 52 is available in limited quantities. It’s available for purchase TODAY… right now! When they’re gone, they’re gone – and we do not have plans to produce any more.
To see all of the Project 52 products in one place, go HERE. We have a Core Kit, Album, 6×6 Paper Pad, Embossing Folders, Clear Photo Overlays, and even a pack of Specialty Cards to coordinate. What’s missing right now are lots of gorgeous pictures that show more of the product. Be sure to watch my social media for updates on that. Right now the products are live in the shop – just not a lot of imagery.
NOTE: Right now we do not have international shipping available, but we’ve been working to get that activated (there’s more involved than you might imagine) and we will certainly announce as soon as we have that option. Shipping fees will be a bear — there’s no way around that; international shipping it just outrageous — but at least it will be an option.
DIGITAL VERSION. Same designs. Digital format. No limited quantities. No potential to sell out. No shipping. This is an excellent option for those who love to scrapbook using their computers. The digital version of Project 52 will be available very soon — early January.
APP VERSION. Same designs. No limited quantities. No potential to sell out. No shipping. And … available in the palm of your hand! As you know, the Project Life app is a game changer for so many. The app is available worldwide and testimonials from happy customers are all over the place. We’re delighted to offer Project 52 for those of you who are using and loving the app on your iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini, or iPod Touch (Android version is in the works but there’s no ETA at this time). Project 52 will become available in the app very soon – early January.
Options, options, options. Project Life used to be available in just one way and that was that. I’m so grateful for technology and an awesome, hard-working team of people who have made it possible to bring you Project Life in a few different ways now!
How I’m personally going to use Project 52
My personal approach to documenting my family’s story in 2015 is going to be with the app. I will do my usual picture-taking and then once a week I will spend 10 minutes choosing a handful of photos that represent our family’s week, pop those into the page templates, add cards from this kit and a few notes of journaling … and that’s it! All in the palm of my hand. Ten minutes per week to have our ongoing story documented. Then I’ll print this as a bound book at the end of 2015 and each of our kids will also have a copy of the family yearbook, which is something I’ve been doing for a number of years now. Printing capability will soon be added to the Project Life app.
I kind of want to cry right now (happy cry) with how excited I am TO document 2015 this way. It’s so easy. So do-able. So fun! And when I do find a little extra time to do some other scrapbooking, I love keeping up with our kids’ albums using the physical product in 12×12 albums so I can keep all their stuff right there with the pages. That’s the beauty of Envelope Pages.
Here’s to 2015!
Who’s with me in the new year? Are you going to do Project 52? Which method works best for you – physical, digital, or app?
