good life with julynn ordyna
Part of cultivating a good life is choosing to have a great day.
Each morning we rise with the sun and make a decision on how we’re going to live the day. When I was first married, I awoke to my husband looking in the mirror and repeating his daily mantra, “I’m the best, I’m the best, I’m the best.” After a good laugh, I asked him what he was up to. He taught me a great lesson when he said, “You have to start your day off great!”
Not every day can be a “chocolate milk” day. Unfortunately, some days are just plain old skim milk and require an old-fashioned pep talk in the mirror. On those days, I am able to see my situation and experiences in a different light by focusing on the good. I love that I get to choose to see the great parts of every day.
Gratitude changes everything. Happiness doesn’t come from looking backwards or looking ahead, it comes from living in the moment and appreciating things as they happen. One of my favorite quotes is “The more you are in a state of gratitude, the more you will attract things to be grateful for.” This time of year opens us up to examining all of the great things in our lives. Seeking that spirit of gratitude throughout the year helps me cultivate a good life.
Nineteen years later, I wake up every morning and tell myself, “Make it a great day!” (By the way, neither of us talks to ourselves in the mirror these days; we leave that to our kids.)
note from becky
Once you meet Julynn in real life, you realize that she really is just as positive as she sounds. Our team had the opportunity to spend some time with Julynn and her business partner when they came to our office a while back and we periscoped together (which was so fun!). Just getting to know these ladies for only a little bit whet our appetite enough that we were convinced we needed to live closer to each other. We were able to learn about how they started Lemon Tee Shop and we got the strong sense that Julynn and Auburn truly know how to cultivate a good life.
