Cultivate a good life and record it.

good life by tina johnson

Part of cultivating a good life is getting outside.

There is something about getting fresh air and seeing the beauty around us that does the body, mind, and soul some good. Wherever we live, there is beauty around us. I love the variety the earth gives us, from the desert to the mountains to the ocean. An added bonus is exercising outside. Getting those endorphins flowing, breathing the fresh air, and seeing what God has made for our enjoyment, is one of my favorite things.

According to WebMD, regular exercise has been proven to reduce stress, ward off anxiety and feelings of depression, boost self-esteem, and improve sleep. I’m a firm believer in this. I tell my friends that I’m exercising outside and with that I get my social, emotional, physical, and even spiritual needs met all in one workout.

I know exercising outside and spending time with my family in the outdoors has brought me peace of mind and happiness. Life and the beauty around us is wonderful!

Note from Becky

This simple reminder from Tina is spot-on. Fresh air and getting outside is exactly what can do our bodies and hearts and minds a lot of good. If anyone is an awesome example on this, it’s Tina Johnson. She has been a dear friend to me for more than a dozen years. When David and I moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 2002, we didn’t know a soul. Tina was the first person to stop by with a warm welcome and a plate of cookies, and to this day that still means the world to me. During those four years of being neighbors, she most definitely encouraged me in the “get outside” and exercise departments. We would go running together from time to time and she knew that it usually took a dare to get me to do something like powering through an uphill sprint. There are times that she even watched my baby so I could get to the gym. I love her for all of that and for her continued example and influence in my life. Tina, when are we hiking the Incline again?

This is so true and so important for us. And Becky, if you are referring to the Incline in Colorado (I think that you have written in the past about hiking it), all of the repairs and renovations this fall are done. Great improvements!
