good life – by laurie pecotte
Part of cultivating a good life is living in the moment.
I’m not talking about getting crazy and throwing all your responsibilities away or not caring about tomorrow. I am talking about really living in the day-to-day moments that mean something and bring us joy.
Like many of you, my days are full of things I “need to do” and checklists that need to be completed. Some days I feel like I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off just trying to stay on top of all of the responsibilities of being a mom, a wife, an employee, a volunteer, etc. There are so many ways we can fill the minutes of our days, but the one thing I have found is that my days have more meaning and I am happier when I take the time to look at everything around me.
Living in the moment means to take the time to chase my boys around the house and tickle them until they are crying from laughter. It means to take the time to watch them play in their make believe world. Living in the moment means noticing a beautiful, clear blue sky during the day or the gorgeous sunset at night. It means to cherish the holding of a hand, the hug of a loved one, or the smile of a friend. It’s in these moments that I find meaning to my life. I will never find peace or joy from crossing off a load of laundry from my list. Sure, I will gain temporary sanity from having an empty laundry basket, but it will never bring me joy. The moments of sweet interaction between you, your loved ones, and your friends are fleeting. Take the time to capture them and savor them now. The laundry will be there tomorrow.

Laurie is a very special part of our team and the Project Life family. As our Digital Project Life Director, she manages everything with our digital products and sales and customer service on that side of the business. We are tremendously grateful for all that she does. And we are thrilled for Laurie and her family who just welcomed a sweet baby girl on February 5th! I’m pretty sure she’s doing plenty of what she just talked about as she savors in many sweet moments with her new little Clementine in these first weeks of life.
