Pocket Scrapbooking with Project Life

Cultivate a good life and record it.

good life – by emily ley

Part of cultivating a good life is taking the time to just be silly.

Over the past year, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is how important it is to take the time to laugh and just be silly. So often, we become so consumed with meeting the deadlines and finishing the projects and running the race that we forget to sit and be still and enjoy all the blessings we’ve been given. Sometimes we find ourselves enduring life rather than enjoying it.

My family takes photos every year on a friend’s farm (as seen above). We try so hard to make sure everyone is smiling at the camera at the same time and no one is doing anything awkward. This year, it was forty degrees (in Florida – goodness gracious!) and unbelievably windy. Our hair was a mess, our teeth were chattering, and our soon-to-be-three-year-old, Brady, couldn’t stand still if he tried. My husband Bryan scooped him up by his feet and here are our 2013 family photos. They’re my absolute favorite. Sometimes we try so hard to make everything perfect that we lose the joy that makes us who we are.

Today, go outside and lay in the grass (if it’s not forty degrees). Build a fort in the living room with your best pillows. In fact, have a pillow fight. Life’s too short not to be filled with joy every moment possible. Those are the moments you’ll remember. Endure less. Enjoy more.

Note from Becky

I’ve never met Emily Ley, but I’m pretty certain we’d be fast friends in real life. I stumbled upon her website through a friend last year and was immediately drawn to her clean & sweet style. I saw her little video and thought – this girl is special. She’s a wife and mother and entrepreneur who has a strong passion for everything that is her brand as she runs a business out of her home. Naturally, I invited her to design a new edition of Project Life® and thankfully she agreed. The Strawberry Edition will be available sometime during this first quarter of 2014.

This is great Becky and Emily <3 This is one of the major reasons I love Project Life – capturing the everyday – the routine and the birthdays etc but also the silly, fun times we share together. Great photos for your family photos Emily – perfectly capture your family on that day XX Loving the Strawberry Edition too – congrats on an awesome kit design xx

  5. I love the words”Endure less and enjoy more” Wonderful advice. What a great tradition Emily and her family have. I love that they have a fun photo shoot at her friends farm. The photos are happy and beautiful. My husband and I take our portraits outdoors for our anniversary every year. We have been taking some pun portraits of “us” for the past few years and we have lots of fun. I think it’s a great idea for any one who can do it. Thank you so much for sharing. :)
