I’m an enabler by nature. If I love something, you’d better believe I’m going to tell people about it! It’s part of what makes my job as Product Manager so fun. Sharing the awesomeness of every product we produce is easy when I have the opportunity to work closely with so many talented designers who create all of the designs you love to see from our brand. The hardest part of my job is having to keep things a “secret” for months when I want to share sneak peeks on a daily basis!! You should see what we have coming out in the next few months! While I can’t share any of those details just yet, what I can share are some of my very favorite things. Will that hold you over for a bit? I sure hope so. *wink*

STITCH FIX. I don’t consider myself a fashionista, but I do appreciate style in others and try to look my best whenever possible. I’ve worked hard the last year to lose 40 pounds and needed to update my wardrobe (you’d better believe I looked at it as a reward for hard work), but I really don’t love the shopping process. (I rarely try on clothes in a store – I’d rather buy them, try them on at home, and return them if they don’t work for me. I know … so much work with that method.) And I don’t love feeling like everything I own is from Target and Old Navy (although I love me some Target and Old Navy). I had seen others post about Stitch Fix on social media and decided it sounded like the perfect solution for me – fill out an online profile of your sizes + style preferences, choose how often you’d like to receive a “fix,” let a stylist choose 5 items to send directly to your house, keep what you love, and send back the rest in a paid shipping envelope!

You pay a $20 styling fee for each fix you receive that goes directly toward the purchase of any item in your box, so the only way you “lose” that $20 is if you send everything back (which has never happened for me). I’ve kept as few as one item and I’ve kept all 5 items a couple of times now (bonus with that is you receive a 25% discount on your entire box if you keep all 5 items). I’ve learned that leaving very specific feedback for my stylist has become extremely beneficial in what I receive. I’ve also learned that keeping a Pinterest board updated with styles I love has also played a role in me receiving some identical pieces to what I’ve pinned (you can include a link to a Pinterest board in your style profile). Need a gift for a girlfriend? A $20 or more gift card to Stitch Fix makes a perfect gift for anyone who’s been wanting to try it out but has been hesitant. I’ve given that gift multiple times and may or may not have friends who are now receiving regular “fixes” because of it. Remember the whole enabling thing? Yeah – that’s exactly what gifting Stitch Fix is. For me, I’ve found that getting a fix every other month is perfect because it allows me to add a new piece or two to my closet often enough without feeling like I’m spending too much on my wardrobe. Finding a box on my doorstep feels just like Christmas morning (which is another one of my favorite things)!

TORTILLA WARMER. If someone asked me which one item I use most in my kitchen, it may very well be my tortilla warmer! Several years ago I discovered the difference in buying uncooked tortillas and cooking them myself and decided right then that I would never buy “regular” tortillas again. Cooking my tortillas fresh with meals that required them and then placing them between 2 paper towels on a plate became “the norm” as I worked on prepping whatever else was needed for a meal. One day we were having people over for dinner and I decided to step up my game from my paper towel method and went on the hunt for a tortilla warmer (which I personally found at Target but have since seen at lots of places) to hold the tortillas that would accompany dinner. Life changing, I tell you!! This $6 gadget keeps our tortillas warm + fresh through dinner. I’ve even found soft, perfect tortillas the next morning (when my family has been too lazy to clean them up from dinner). This has honestly become my favorite gift for newlyweds because it is the most random purchase ever (so most would never buy it), but it’s the gift that keeps on giving – in our house, anyway.

TIEKS. I have always had a very difficult time spending money on shoes (and clothes, really). Anything over $40-50 was pretty much a stretch. As I’ve gotten older wiser, I’ve started to understand the value of investing in nicer, higher-quality items that will look great and last longer. I’ve long been a fan of bright-colored flats, but all of the ones I own are absolutely trashed from overwear and cheap construction. When I first saw Tieks, I was a huge fan of the gorgeous colors + patterns, the beautiful construction, and the simple design, but I had sticker shock when I saw the price. I looked at their website on a regular basis (and saved my pennies) for months before finally deciding that I wanted to invest in a pair. I chose the coral patent (seen above) and can honestly say that I love everything about them – the color, the style, the fit, the construction, the teal soles. I currently have a wish list of about 4-5 additional colors that I would love to own (which will take a while to achieve) and have no doubt these will be something I love and wear for years to come!

HARKINS LOYALTY CUP. My husband and I enjoy going to the movies, and we typically visit Harkins Theaters here in Arizona. One of the things we love about Harkins is their loyalty cup – you make the original purchase for the cost of a regular large drink (I believe around $4.50), and then you bring the cup back to the theater where you can get a “refill” for $1.50 all year long! It has become a tradition for us to buy a pair of movie passes (that we pick up discounted at Costco), a loyalty cup, and a few boxes of movie theater candy (typically $1 each at Walmart, Target, or places like that) to share with friends and my husband’s employees at Christmas. It makes for the perfect date night for anyone and also continues to save people money throughout the year!

NOTHING BUNDT CAKES. There are honestly no words that could adequately describe how much my family has come to love adore Nothing Bundt Cakes. I had a friend who told me about them a while ago and warned me (in the most descriptive language imaginable) about how good they were – as any enabling friend would. When I found out that a store would be opening about 5 minutes from my house, I was elated … and concerned because of my profound love of baked goods. Surely these could not live up to the hype that my friend had expressed, right? WRONG. It was love at first bite and we’ve never looked back! I’ve lost track of the number of Bundtlets I’ve taken to friends – as a quick thank you or just for fun. A dozen Bundtinis (shown above) has become the perfect gift for a family or small group for any type of celebration. And, of course, the 8″ and 10″ cakes are the only thing my children request for their birthdays now. These cakes stay moist for days (if they last that long), the frosting is perfection, and the variety of flavors guarantees that everyone will find something that tickles their taste buds. Don’t believe me? Find a bakery near you and try them for yourself . You can thank me later. *wink*

Congratulations on the weight loss! I have recently lost the same amount and know how much a style transformation is in order and also how much work that kind of shopping can be! Thanks for the Stitch Fix tip!

I love how these posts let us get to know each of you! My family laughs at how often I comment about something in Arizona I heard. They say.. yeah right from your personal PL friends!? :)

I have so many that I consider my “friends” who I have never personally met and they are all over the world! My husband may think I’m crazy at times, but I’m immensely grateful for the relationships forged in communities like this.

Ok. Are the Tieks really worth it?? They are sooo expensive! But I too have been looking at the site often and just can’t bring myself to spend that much on a pair of shoes.

My personal opinion? They are totally worth it. They are definitely a splurge and an investment, but they were exactly what I was looking for in a flat and then some … Including extreme all-day comfort and quality construction. I might go through 3-4 pair of cheaper flats in the amount of time these will wear beautifully, so I figure that a one-time higher expense will balance out to a 3-4 time cheaper expense. I honestly can’t wait to get a second pair I love them that much!

Kari, congratulations on your weight loss. I love my tortilla warmer and will not serve them without using it. What a difference!! I am defiantly going to try some Nothing Bundy Cakes, we had one just open by me. Hope to chat with you again,.

Oh, thank you, Judi!! You’ll have to let me know what you think about Nothing Bundt Cakes – they have a seasonal Pumpkin Spice cake for October and November that is so amazing, but my other favorites are Red Velvet, Lemon, and Pecan Praline … and now I’m feeling like I need to stop by my store for a visit today!!
