I was born + raised in Waterloo, Iowa with my older brother and younger sister. After my parents divorced when I was 11, my Dad remarried and our family grew to include 3 younger sisters.
My family now consists of my husband of 14 years Jason and our daughters, Ella (13) and Sophie (11). We share our small house with four felines: Dante, Max, Gus, and Claire. My husband and I remain close to our parents and siblings, so I am also a proud Auntie to 7 nieces and nephews. Our family gatherings are quite loud but filled with laughter.
The way I use Project Life is to capture the stories of everyday life, family travels, and special occasions, with quotes and some pop culture mixed in. I discovered Project Life in mid-2013 and began my first album in 2014. I started documenting with 2-page weekly spreads, but quickly found my groove when I moved to one weekly 12×12 page. I add special occasions and other projects on 2-page spreads and inserts throughout the year, as well. Everything goes into our yearly family PL album.
To me, documenting life is a way to remember the past, while living in the present, so it will be accessible in the future. Photos become a touchstone to our memories when we take time to tell the stories behind the picture.
Three things on my bucket list are:
1. Take my girls to Disneyland and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
2. Travel to all 50 states via RV with my husband and blog about the experience.
3. Travel throughout Europe. I especially want to visit Scotland, Switzerland, and the Vatican.
Cultivating a good life means living out the story of my life as only I can. It means practicing gratitude and kindness every day. It means striving to learn new things and expand my worldview, while cherishing and encouraging those close to me. It means remembering that, no matter what, all will be well.
