FREE DOWNLOAD for Project 365

Ready for this infomercial-style post? Here we go!

Imagine that I'm yelling this from your TV: Are you bummed that you didn't get the Project 365 kit? Do you have a friend who could really benefit from doing Project 365, especially since there is no "scrapbooking" involved? Do you wish that you could at least have those cute journaling cards from the kit? We have the solution for YOU!

Okay, seriously. No more infomercial. I'm just so happy that we can share this with you ... a FREE DOWNLOAD of some of the designs from the kit.

Clickhere.

When you click on that link, you'll notice that a file is immediately downloading onto your computer. When you open the folder (called "Project 365"), you will notice a folder of JPGs and a folder with a PDF in it. There are some title page (and ending page) cards, some "week of" cards, some journaling cards, and a couple designer cards (to use as a background when you have smaller memorabilia on some days, instead of a photo). This certainly isn't everything from the kit, but it is definitely enough to help you do Project 365. You'll need to get some 4" x 6" divided page protectors, a 12" x 12" binder, and you're good to go. See the post just below this one for resources.

I realize that everyone has different levels of being tech-saavy, so I'll explain this as clearly as possible so as to not scare anyone away. : )

[ PDF ]

When you open the PDF, you'll notice 7 pages for you to print. For best results, print on a color laser jet printer. Don't have one? Try your local copy shop. When you go to print, the most important thing is to notice that you have the option to change the scale of what you're printing. It's probably set on some default setting right now, like "fit to page" or "shrink to printable area" or something along those lines. You don't want any of these. CLICK ON "NONE". Then print, cut, and use! Of course you'll only need one print-out of the title blocks. Since you'll want several of the "week of" cards and the journaling blocks, just print those specific pages however many times you want. Once you cut everything to the appropriate size (4" x 6"), these will slip right into any 4" x 6" photo album or page protectors (see previous post for people's recommendations on where to find these).

[ JPG ]

For those of you who are a little bit more digital-saavy, and you have some photo-editing software (such as Adobe Photoshop), you're going to love these JPGs. First of all you can print the title cards just as they are. You'll have photo-quality cards and you'll be saving your own ink (printer ink is expensive!). As for the "week of" and journaling cards, simply open the file you want to use in Photoshop, add your text (whatever font & size you want), save it as a JPG, and print it just as you would print any other picture that's a JPG!

Where to print? Most photo-printing services (such as Shutterfly, Snapfish, Scrapbook Pictures, and Costco) will mail your prints right to you. Here's one of the journaling cards, so you can see what to expect, and then a sample of journaling that I did on one of the JPGs:

So you would print this out and then stick it in one of the 4" x 6" slots on the same page as those 2 days' worth of photos. Make sense? Plus -- you could also just print out the JPG journaling blocks as photos, and use a photo-safe pen to handwrite your journaling (instead of typing it in Photoshop).

If you have questions about these downloads, please leave a comment here. If you have alternative suggestions for Project 365, please leave them in the Comments of the LAST post so that those looking for ideas will see yours there.

Just a few more notes before I leave you alone. : )

1. I've never posted a zip file on my blog before, so I'm not sure how this will go. It's also quite possible that my blog will be slammed with many of you getting this file all at the same time. If there are any technical problems getting this file from my blog to your computer, just try again at a later time. Or if we see that it's more than just "high traffic" issues, we'll see what needs to be done differently. Okie-dokie?

2. I know many of you are still wondering if we're going to reprint the kit. I wish I knew. We're still working on that possibility, but it takes time. The answer right now is: I just don't know. SO ... since that means that there is a chance at getting the Project 365 kit in the future, you may want to just print journaling blocks a week or two at a time until we know for sure. That way, if we DO a reprint, then these journaling blocks you are printing & journaling on will go right into those page protectors in the kit.

3. As I've mentioned before, there are many people working behind the scenes on Project 365 ... to correct mistakes, to work on solutions, to help make this work for you. The graphic designer behind this project is someone I truly enjoy working with and her name is Lori. She not only interpreted my ideas into the perfect output of colors & patterns that are just so fun in this kit ... but she's the one that pulled together these PDF and JPG files for you to use. I'm just so grateful to her, and so many others that have contributed to helping ALL of us this past week. : )

Becky-
I LOVE this idea! Thanks so much for doing this for those of us who didn't get a kit!

For now, I'm posting my 365 photos on my flickr site (below) but I was trying to figure out the best, quickest, and easiest way to put them into a book-this solves the problem!

If the kit does get reprinted, then I'll still buy it, but if not, at least we can still use some of the same ideas that were present in this really cook kit!

Thanks again!

I am one of the lucky 4,000? or so who was able to order a kit, and I just got it on Friday. I am SO impressed. It is just amazing, and I sincerely hope that a reprint is in the works for those who didn't get it yet. Thanks so much for this awesome project!

PS-Could you please post the name of the font used for Project 365? I'd like to find the grungy one--reminds me of Hootie. Thanks!

You must have read my mind, because I was hoping you would offer this as a digital kit. Thank you so much! Since I couldn't sleep anyways I went ahead and quickly designed week one using photoshop and your journaling cards!
It took all of about 20 minutes-mostly of that time was spent just adding my journaling and justifying text and leading so the lines of text matched the lines on the cards. Can't wait to get caught up with rest of weeks. You rock.

Here is some food for thought. I Know that you only do your kits once and that is it. But, since this one was so popular and your school kit from last year. You should really consider doing them again. I missed out on both and would really love to get them. LOL. It is just a thought! Obviously, they are good sellers, so! I don't think it would hurt anything.

Thanks! I am both a paper and digi scrapper. I was thinking of scanning my pieces to make them digital for my own use. I know there are a lot, but I'd hate to run out 3/4 into the book!

I printed a ton of pictures last night (I had some color issues after upgrading from CS3 to CS4) and while I have already missed 2 days, it all seems fine. I have a TON of journaling and a TON of photos. I also have 2 special 12x12 pages that need to be done to document my son's first steps and his first time playing in the snow. It's all good!

Awesome idea for the downloads, I was thinking how I could type on all of the cards and not have my own handwriting, assuming I would easily get a kit! This was very thoughtful of you and CK! I'll still order a kit, however, if one comes available :)

Thanks for all your hard work Becky, it really is appreciated even though it won't do me any good. THANKS so much Becky & Lori! This is wonderful. So very generous of you. Now, if the kit comes for sale again, at least I can be caught up with this alternative - perfect! Would it be possible at all to share the design for the bigger journalling card that gets folded to go into the pocket for those of us that are wordy (like me!)to print off on our printer? I know that's asking a lot (pretty please with a cherry on top?). That's the piece that I was really looking forward to - additional space to write.

For those of you having trouble opening the file - it might have been a bad download or gotten interrupted while downloading. Try downloading it again to another location (i.e. load to your desktop if you put it in "My Documents" before). Most of the time that will solve the problem. HTH!

Patricia-
Not to be a downer but that's going to cost me FAR more by the end of the year than the kit ever would have. One of the reasons why I avoid ANYTHING digital is because of the printing costs. Plus for this to even look decent I'd have to go out and buy a professional quality printer. And if I printed it at snapfish or somewhere else I'd still end up having to pay a small fortune there too. Like someone else said, it's the final nail in the coffin for those of us who really really wanted this kit. I don't even want to take the pictures now as I wouldn't know where to start with doing this on my own which is why I wanted the kit so I guess I'm giving the whole thing up now.

I will still buy the kit if it's printed again and I've always been very thankful for just the idea of 365 because it really has changed the way I look at things. (and I understood that it was not any fault of yours or CK that so many didn't get it, for no one could of imagined so many would want it).
I can't wait to get some printed out and get started on my project.

I do have one suggestion. Is it possible and not to big of a job to have the journaling going horizontal as to fit into sleeves that will have more horizontal openings, as most pictures and sleeves come this way?
Thanks again for the much appreciated free download.

First, I do want to say that I don't blame Becky for any of this. This is the first time ever that I tried to order a kit and I had NO idea this would happen. I was so psyched to get this and was horribly disappointed not to be able to.

Second, I did download what was offered here and it was very generous although I'm not into Photoshop or digital scrapbooking so using the same designs over and over for a full year might not look the greatest.

Third, I did manage to get a pre-order, but now I'm confused. If we got a pre-order confirmation, will we get a kit or they don't know yet?

I have 6 kids and I do albums for each of them. Plus family albums. I wanted to do a "Book of Me" and thought this would be perfect - something I could fit into my busy schedule. The cost of the kit was very reasonable, but having to buy everything seperately will probably be way out of my budget.

I do feel that maybe each person should have been limited to one kit. I don't think it's fair that some people got multiple kits and many many others got none. I can see now that probably lots of them will end up on eBay going for a ton of money that many of us can't afford.

This is AWESOME! Thanks so much for all your hard work on this.

My suggestion is that if only ONE thing were to be re-made from this kit it would be the page protectors. I think *plenty* of us are creative enough to be able to use our stashes to make journaling cards and the like- and we can buy 12x12 notebooks-but if those page protectors were available all year long then people could start a project like this anytime they wanted.

Thank you so much for offering this. But I do have a question that I hope (for myself as well as others) will be answered quickly.

I am one of the orders that got a confirmation number, but after talking to customer service they say I won't receive my kit for 4-6 weeks.

Please just shoot straight with us...is there really a kit for us? Is so, I will happily wait. If no, I'll get started on another option.

But it would be nice to know...

Thanks for help you can offer.

Sincerely,
Ellen

Thank you Becky and Lori for all your extra efforts to help your customers be satisfied and for providing an opportunity for them to participate right now in 365.
Blessings to you both for going the extra mile for your friends, fans and customers.

I got the kit Friday. I love it. I have told several friends about the concept. These PDFs and JPGs will be a great asset for them to work the concept. You did not have to do this...but you did! It shows what a giving, caring person you are and that people are so very important to you.
Thanks.

For Julie and others having the issue with opening the files/trying to save them on the computer (I have Vista too...what a pain). I opened the link, selected the project 365 folder and then the JPG 4x6 folder. I then just selected all of the files, right click, "copy" then went to the folder on my computer that I had created and did right click and "paste". It worked. Hope this helps. I did a test run and it came out beautifully - even with an ink jet!

THANK YOU SO MUCH BECKY!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SOLUTION. YOU ARE GENEROUS BEYOND WORDS!

I have never posted here, by I've been getting CK since it's premier issue! I just wanted to share my idea. I already cut out a million 4x6 pieces of pretty paper to use in my album, so I printed the beginning and ending page on a transparency in black and white. Then I can slip it over the paper I am using, and it will coordinate perfectly.

So cool, I am (hopefully) getting the kit (4-6 wks?), but to have these also is so awesome to be able to add to it as needed!!

Even if you are NOT computer savvy at ALL, upload the JPGs to your printing service just like a photo!! Slick Writers by American Crafts are AWESOME for writing on prints and come in several colors! I recommend printing on Matte (NOT Glossy!) for this to get a more consistent look. You definitely don't need Photoshop for that and they will definitely look better than printing at home on an inkjet (and be cheaper in the end). =)

This is just a thought for anyone having trouble printing at home---this makes it so very simple. =)

Thank you, Becky & Lori, nicely done!

Oh, and someone suggested that people be limited to only one kit, but I had planned to buy 8, yes 8. Only one was for me. The rest was for the group of women who were doing it with me (one is only 12 years old, so she wouldn't have been able to order it for herself). We thought it would be easier if one person was coordinating the ordering. Just so people know that many people may have ordered more than one, but NOT to be greedy.

Again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!

While I thank you for the download, I am still having some challenges.

First of all, if you don't even know if you're ordering more, what is happening for all of us who were placed on pre-order? We were told that we would have a kit in 4-6 weeks, but it sounds like you haven't even ordered them again!

Really, what's going on? Yes, I know it's not up to you. Yes, I know you can't do everything. Yes, I know you don't have all the answers. Still, we are not getting them from CK or from the email address they told us to contact! I just want to know what's going on!

No, I don't want to print these out until I get my kit. I want to know if I'm getting my kit! If the answer is no - just tell me! I can handle it. I'll make other arrangements. Just tell me! Right now I'm waiting because I was told I'd get a kit in 4-6 weeks. I'd rather know sooner than later if I'm not so I can do something else. And thank you, but if I have to do it all myself, I'd pick different paper and different colors.

On another note, it is not cheaper or even close to do this. Printing out 4x6 photos - even if they're journaling cards - is at least $.10. So, I'll need five printouts per week - that's $.50. So, for 52 weeks, plus $.60 for the cover and $.60 for the back, it's $27.20.
Ok. Not too bad.
However, I still need page protectors. I can't get the nifty ones like you have, but normal six-slot divided page protectors. So, depending on what brand you use and where you get them, you get about 10 for $5. That's $.50 each. So, I need 54. That's another $27. No, I don't live within three states of a Hobby Lobby for 50% off.
On top of that, I need an album to put it all in. Sure, I can get a 3-ring binder from Staples for only $7, but not 12x12. The cheapest one I've been able to find is $25 plus shipping.
That doesn't include any of the overlays, stickers, dividers, etc. And that definitely doesn't include the cost of printing out my photos.

So, I'd like to know if us 'backordered' people have been lied to.

~Jessica

Could I just say that you are REALLY, REALLY nice to give us these downloads. . . I must say that yesterday I was extraordinarily disappointed when I found that I couldn't order the kit. I had saved my CK magazine to give myself a creative boost while on a plane trip this weekend. I saw the 365 kit and was delighted as I had done a pic-a-day blog last year and have been looking for a way to continue to document our life. I came home with my big plan and was ready to order! So, I missed all the drama of the site crashing, etc. . .but my hopes were equally disappointed when I discovered that my plan wasn't going to happen. I went to Archiver's after church today, looking for some supplies to make my own "kit" in case you weren't able to re-print. To tell you the truth, none of the options compare to the cute graphics that you came up with for this project. (I did get a few date and word stamps to work with, though). Thus, I was DELIGHTED when I found the link to your blog and saw your generosity with the down-load!!! Needless to say, I will still order the kit if you can figure out a way to offer it, but meanwhile I am off to the print shop so that I can catch up with the year. Thank you for coming up with some kiind of intermediate solution!

For those concerned that she's giving the kit away for free - she's not. It's only the journaling blocks - size 4x6 and 4x3 (x2 to fit in a 4x6 slot). Exclusive to the kit - and NOT free - are the unique page protectors, the 12x12 binder album, the overlays, stickers, ribbon, storage boxes, dividers, date stamp, etc.
I figured it out. Even with the download, it would cost me more than you paid to recreate the album even without the embellishments.

I was not able to get a kit (after 2 hours on 2 computers, I finally saw they were sold out!) I am trying to do this digitally. Any way those of us who couldn't get a kit can purchase the rest of the journaling cards and "week of" cards as a download?

PS - Will still buy actual kit if offered again. I think it would be much easier to simply write on the cards then do it on the computer. Thanks, however, for letting us get a part of 365!

Thank you! I used to be a paper scrapper but am now 100% digi...so happy to see this.

Have you considered taking all your "sketches" and turning them into PSD templates?! WOW would I love to get my hands on those! I bought your magazines and had loved using them in my paper scrapping days!

There are a lot of people who should be apologizing to you right now! You have seriously gone the extra mile! Do many deserve it after the backlash they gave you? Probably not, but it just shows how cool you are! You totally rose above the dismal mess and came up with solutions! Again, thanks for caring as much as you do!!

LOVE this kit idea, Becky -- Wow! A great idea for us busy moms! I e-mailed Mr. Worner hoping for a pre-pay option to encourage re-production of more kits even if the waiting time is 4-6 months! I really like the baseball-card-style holders for the 4x6 photos WITH the smaller sections at the bottom for comments/embellishments. These holders are my real reason for wanting several of these kits! I wish you sold these in packs of 10 (or more!) on your "products" link!!! I would totally buy them! Also, I love the new photo of Crew in his Bumbo! I got one for my baby boy Jackson when he was 3 months and now he's 7 months and can sit up on his own like a big boy! Yay!

Seriously, is it a big secret? Are we or are we not getting a kit if we managed to get a "pre-order"???

It's been nearly two weeks. Are they or are they not ordering more???

If CK cares about their customers, MAKE MORE! If they care just about money, well still MAKE MORE! I don't see what the problem is...

Nice for those who got theirs and decided to sell on eBay and make a killing. Or for those who ordered "extras". The whole thing is frustrating.

It would be nice to have a real answer. If we aren't getting the kits, let us know so I can just forget about the whole ordeal and go on with life. I'm sure another company will come out with a similar product and have enough to go around.

Wow! Thank you so much. I will say that this doing something like this for those of us that missed out, is a great way to make me purchase the kit if it comes out again. And if not, I WILL be getting one next year, if you do it again.

WOW! You really went above and beyond! I have been doing 365 on my own and had planned on buying a kit later in the month...not realizing that it would be sold out so soon! This really too nice of you, but I really appreciate the sweetness that you are!

I'm so happy right now! I called CK customer service because this blasted 'back-ordered' thing was driving me nuts and nobody was answering my emails to CK CS and Mr. Worner. So, Monday comes and I can call!

John from CS told me that the original 4,000 kits had not all been received from the manufacturer. If you were placed on back-order, you would be getting one of the original 4,000 when CK got their second shipment in to the warehouse.

Therefore, if you are on back-order, you WILL get a kit.

I know it doesn't help all the people who didn't get any kit at all, but for those of us who have been disappointed and confused about 'back-order' status, I thought I'd share. We're getting a kit!

TYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTY!

This is such a cool idea. I actually sent the jpg files to Costco to have them printed. They turned out pretty good - the only downside is that the journaling blocks printed a little bit off center, so the top edge is a bit trimmed off.

These will look wonderful with my pix. Thank you again.

I bought my kit on ebay and it came today. Yes I paid a mint for it...but that was my choice.

I'm so glad to have it! I just opened it this morning and it is even better than I had imagined.

Thank you Becky!

I would even order one of these every year...what a great idea. Perhaps without a different color scheme from year to year.

I think CK would make a lot of money to continue with this kit on a yearly basis.
