app questions & answers part 2

A couple weeks ago we answered a few of the major questions that were being asked about the upcoming Project Life® App (see that post here). Today we’re addressing even more of your questions. Please keep in mind the app has not yet launched, so much of what you’re wondering about will all be revealed at that time. We are in “beta phase” right now which is where we’re finding any last issues that need to be worked out and tweaking a few more things to get it just perfect for you when it becomes available.

Questions. Answers.

Q:  How much will the app cost?

A: We’ll be able to officially announce that when the app launches, but I can tell you this: I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised with the small price tag on an app that packs quite a punch!

Q: We know you announced that this would be released for iPhone/iPad users first and also available for Android several months later. What about the Windows phone?

A: I’m sorry – no. Developing an app is a lot of work for Apple devices and a tremendous amount of work for Android devices. Together, those make up the vast majority of the market, whereas the Windows mobile products are a tiny percentage of the market.

Q: Will this be available internationally?

A: Yes! The Project Life App will be available for purchase through the Apple App Store for your iPhone or iPad at launch time.

Q: What kits are included with the app?

A: Over the past five years, we have released more collections for Project Life than we can count … but we have indeed counted them … and we do intend to include almost all of them in the app over time. Some will come with the app. Some will be in-app purchases for a super affordable price.

Q:  Can we use Digital Project Life kits that we already have purchased with the Project Life app?

A: Technically? Sure you can! Your digital files can be accessed from the app if you want to do it that way. But it’s not nearly as simple as using the app 100%. We’ll explain more about this at launch time and even share a few tips & tricks for those of you with digital files that want to work with what you already own. I promise this will all make a lot more sense when you SEE the app in action.

Q: Will the finished pages print as 12″ x 12″? Will there be other size options available?

A: We are still finalizing our print option portion of the app, so these are more details we will confirm at launch time. But yes — you can save your pages completed in the app and print them from there! And yes, the quality is excellent for up to 12″ x 12″ print size.

Q: Can I share my pages via social media or through text and emails?

A: Absolutely! You can save your finished pages and there is an option to share via text, email, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram! In fact, if you search #ProjectLifeApp on social media right now (particularly Instagram), you’ll see lots of sharing already happening. That’s from our beta testers.

Q: Will we be able to upload our own fonts?

A: Not at this time. But there will be several fonts – traditional, classic, modern, even a few that are handwritten – that are available in the app. We think you’ll love them!

Q: Can I download this app to my Mac?

A: No, it’s just for mobile devices. If you want to explore digital scrapbooking on your computer, we have everything you need already in place at DigitalProjectLife.com.

Q: Will I be able to use the app offline?

A: Yes! It works using the photos from your device and the kits within the app, so you can build pages while offline.

As I’ve mentioned before, we don’t / can’t know an actual launch date for the app just yet. As we get closer, I’ll continue to share a few sneak peeks of sample pages on social media here and there — not to tease but to show you results so you can become more familiar with what the app does. Meanwhile, we’re working very hard behind the scenes to get this app in tip-top shape. Nothing but the BEST for you guys. You’ll be using this app for your memory keeping … so we don’t take this lightly at all.

Thanks for the update, I’m excited about this new product! I’m new to Project Life after watching your CreativeLive class, it is the perfect fit for me. I’ve enjoyed all the beta testers’ samples on Instagram and can hardly wait for the app!

  2. Lauren Osborn says:

I’m so excited for the app. We’re moving abroad at the end of the week and our shipping allowance is limited so I’ll have to leave my kits and albums at home. But with the app I’ll be able to keep up until I get the chance to come back and recreate it in paper form! it’s coming at just the perfect time, I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

  3. Bethany Rielage says:

This looks fantastic! Can’t wait to start using it. And thanks for all the hard work upfront to make sure it works well. There’s nothing like downloading an app that you’ve been waiting for and then having it not work!

  4. AlishaW says:

I have a question…will we have to purchase kits in addition to the app or will they be included in the price of the app?

    • pam stewart says:

Looks like from the comments that some kits come with the initial app and you will be able to purchase additional ones at a very reasonable price.

    • pam stewart says:

Q: What kits are included with the app?

A: Over the past five years, we have released more collections for Project Life than we can count … but we have indeed counted them … and we do intend to include almost all of them in the app over time. Some will come with the app. Some will be in-app purchases for a super affordable price.

    • Janet says:

Galaxy is an Android based phone so as stated in this and the previous post it will not be available at initial launch, but will be available at some point.

  10. When will the project life app come out. Will it before thanksgiving or christmas.

    • Janet says:

In the post: “As I’ve mentioned before, we don’t / can’t know an actual launch date for the app just yet.”

Apple has to approve all applications for that work with their OS platforms.

  11. Susan says:

Is there a way to make pictures I take with my camera available to use with this app?

    • Joelle says:

I’m absolutely positive this will work with the photos on your phone.

    • Joelle says:

Oh! Haha! I totally misread your question! Sorry! I know that pix from my phone can be in Dropbox which I can access from my phone, so I would guess yes?? Sorry about my initial misunderstanding!

  15. Melissa Garlej says:

I was wondering when you think the release date will be for the new project life app launch? I know, dumb question. I am really excited for this product because I got terribly sick and my kidneys shut down, unfortunately making it hard to find time to scrapbook. I am currently on a transplant waiting list and I have my husband all prepared to photograph every little detail. I would love to use this app on my phone while I am at Mayo Clinic and to incorporate it with being a advocate for organ donations and education on Facebook and maybe a future blog.
    Thank you,
    Melissa

  16. Jenny says:

Really looking forward to seeing the app – very convenient for me as I plan to go all digital for 2015! Hope that there will be technical specs released with the app – e.g. I would like to know the output resolution.

  17. Bertine says:

Any updates on when it will hit the app-store?
Due to a complicated pregnancy i’m confined to the couch – and through it beats lying in hospital i would love to be able to design my pages and make them for real once i’m up-and-running again. Especially since there will be a baby and a 4 year old to take care of…

  20. Cyndy says:

Love the app and it’s very easy to use however I changed the background of a pg and can’t figure out how to get it back to a white background. Any suggestions? I did try the last box where the different color backgrounds are and that just makes the corners round or square

  21. Vickie says:

I bit the bullet, upgraded my iPad to ios 8 and got the Project Life app. I’m thrilled with it and have made a couple of pages. What’s the best way to move them to my computer so that I can upload them to Persnickety? Will emailing them cause them to lose any of the quality or pixels or what have you? Or can I send them directly to Persnickety from my iPad? I understand that there will be a direct way later through the app- but in the meantime, what do I do? Thanks.

  22. D Burks says:

Love the app! Was wondering why when I’m creating a page I don’t have all the choices of cards I can see in the kits I have purchased. I can see them all when I’m not in the creating stage, but only have a small portion available once I’ve started.

  23. Rebecca says:

I got the app when it first launched but I don’t remember why I didn’t use it. Maybe because features were still lacking or I didn’t have time. I just started playing around with it and SO IN LOVE with it! One question, is it in the road map to include more designers’s design, opening it up to a little PL store within the app so we have more varieties? For instance, I love onelittlebird (peppermint)’s journal cards designs and wish I could use hers in the app. You guys take a cut out of the sales and the designers have a wider customer base, and us customers are happy. It’ll be a win-win-win situation! Please consider!
